Ovi Store warmed over with fresh look, new features
Nokia's Ovi Store got a little more awesome this week thanks to a makeover that brought a handful of minor changes -- nothing Earth-shattering by any stretch, but in this app-centric mobile world we're now an inseparable part of, we figure that every little bit helps. Actually, they've made changes both to the mobile and desktop clients, with the mobile side focusing on better and easier access to details about apps that you're looking at buying; they've also switched from a three-star rating system to five stars based on user feedback. On the desktop side, you've now got a list-based view of search results, and you're more aggressively asked to select your device to make sure you're not seeing any content that your particular device can't use. The updated Store is available immediately, so enjoy -- and go buy a few bubble level apps, why don't you?

Android needs screen shots already there market place is too messy
It is getting better with every update. Give the complexity of the Ovi store, all the different form factors, firmware versions and OS's, its actually becoming pretty good.
@JFH I agreee. Ovi Store is definitely getting better by the day.
I'm actually happy Nokia chose to focus on services and revamping the UI on its converged devices. They could've focused on the store and hardware, but they chose to build on their weaknesses first, which is turning out well.
As of today, they're 3 and 9 months away from launching their totally new Symbian and MeeGo devices, they have a shared software ecosystem with all desktop OSes, WP7S, Symbian, and MeeGo, and the only converged device porfolio with Flash enabled browsers as standard. They are one of the fastest growing email providers, its music offering is maturing, and their navigation offering is the industry standard. Their application store is close to the level of its competitors, reaching all corners of the globe, and they still lead their next closest competitor by 2:1. Not bad for a company doomed since 2008...
@christexaport Well said!
This is a long way from Download and Nokia Mosh just a few years ago. I doubt anyone lese could've pulled off such a metamorphosis.
They also briefly borked the server so that it was presenting every single app to the phone client regardless of the actual handset. So you could do things like download the free Ovi Maps onto a device that didn't support it, or the mysteriously restricted Facebook app, and so on.
Alas usually they wouldn't work anyway, but Facebook is nice.
this is ok I guess but the real deal is that they want us to buy their phones. and often.
It's much better, but it's still lacking version numbers and updates notification for new versions.
really? i don't see any difference?
I just purchased a 5800 nokia,please send the stuff today.
