Verizon down in Wyoming, Colorado, parts of the Midwest?
We're getting a boatload of tips this morning that Verizon service has been down in Wyoming, Colorado, and parts of the Midwest this morning. An article posted on Wyoming's thetrib.com cites a "technical snafu" overnight at a Colorado-based switching center as the culprit with plans in place to have everything back up and running by late morning Mountain Time today, but we're curious who all has been affected -- Midwesterners in particular, have you gotten dragged into this nonsense?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: We've received Verizon's official statement, and it sounds like everything should've been back on the straight and narrow by 2PM MT today; for what it's worth, Denver and the surrounding areas were never affected.

Just called from Boulder to Denver on my Droid, worked fine.
I've noticed that every time Verizon goes down a new application works its way onto my phone.
Hrm, apparently having network outages is the new thing. And this certainly isn't a jab at AT&T. Or RIM. Or TMobile.
Its still not working in Cheyenne, Wy. I have my phone, wifes, kids and nothing been since I woke up this morning (6:00 a.m.) Call #'s from land line and it just beeps.
I have a Utah number, and can't get through to any of the Wyoming numbers on my phone. Texting works fine though, as far as I can tell.
Honestly I'm surprised no one is saying anything bad. If it were at&t down, we'd already be at page 8 of the trash talk...
@koldvico Or TMO...LOL Oh but Verizon goes down, and its just a glitch...lol
@koldvico
Maybe it's because few people live in WY. And how many use smartphones and the like? Also, outages are uncommon for VZW, so it is not such a sensitive subject. An AT&T outage in a densely populated area would be considered a final straw by many.
@kedmond
My point is that most people consider Verizon to be in a god-like status, when in reality they're just as vulnerable as everyone else, and the network going down for some time is proof of that. It's just annoying when people say stuff that just isn't true.
@kedmond With oil & gas exploration active in Wyoming, there is actually a large number of Verizon users with smart phones. Verizon here gives away crack berries like easy money. Have to agree though, the population here, while small, really won't care too much if we can't make a call. That's what smoke signals are for.
@koldvico T-Mobile went down 2 weeks ago with a total of 9 comments. People can accept the occasional outage. It's dropped calls when a network is up and running that gets annoying.
@woodraskam
I see what you're saying, but I know people who have both at&t and Verizon, both of whom complain about dropped calls sometimes. No network is perfect. It is a false statement to say that 100% of the time a phone gets reception/makes phone calls perfectly.
Oh shit so much for the network lol it proves that all networks have problems
expect 2-3 hours before a fix
Verizon is definitely out in Southwest Wyoming right now. Can't even use land lines in our area and that's Qwest, not Verizon.
Can you hear me now? I SAID CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!
LOL Nations most reliable network? Bwaaahahhaaaaaaa
@nefan65 The funnier part is how long you've probably been waiting to say that.
@Trocks797 LOL... You must be a Verizon user. Must have hit a nerve...
My parents have Verizon in Montana and last year or 2 years ago (sorry but can't remember!), the service was down for 2 days, due to a wire being cut accidentially by a Quest employee, the local paper said.
Want to make calls while wandering around Casper or Cheyenne, WY? Sorry, there ain't no map for that!
I wonder how they figured it out? Cows unable to call one another?
@David Wagner
LMAO!!
@David Wagner someone trying to communicate with the women in your family?
