T-Mobile's HTC HD2 gets updated
T-Mobile has posted a firmware update for its HD2 that miraculously, and against all odds, updates it to Windows Phone 7 supposedly fixes a few bugs. You'll need your IMEI to kick off the process, so... you know, don't get any ideas if you're just a miscreant looking for an easy way to score a ROM for a phone you don't have. Let us know how it goes, won't you?

Installed this yesterday. It adds the MyAccount app - which has been available in custom ROMs for some time now, but not official. Biggest change I've noticed is in Swype. Its faster, more accurate, bigger word choice popup, optional vibrate...if you use Swype as much as I do, this update is great for that alone.
No one cares........this android thing is so fragmented.
@Megazine .....except the HD2 is a Windows Mobile phone, so what does Android fragmentation have to do with it?
@DeekoVB5 Ahahahaa WORD! lol
@DeekoVB5 Oops lol.
@DeekoVB5 I wish this thing was running Android
@massradius i would've brought it if it was running android
@hoodcrist you mean sense ui right? Most android owners would agree that sense is better than stock android, you know, the way google wanted it. But I digress. Hd2 is a great phone, don't knock it
@Good Times Had one for a week and went back to my G1. I like my stock Android, thank you very much. I would have kept it if it was running Android. Don't think I can get a different kind of phone now. I'm hooked.
They couldn't have brought this thing via Windows Update on the phone? WHY, OH, WHY DID THEY PUT IT THERE? (...such a sick, twisted joke....)
How sad is this? Only 8 (now 9 comments) about this phone. WM is officially dead
@massradius right about window 6.5 dead as tiger wood career
but cuz we all waiting for window 7 MAYHEM
@remytech I just came from Android and I actually like this phone. Great for videos when I fly overseas, some decent IM clients, and email. I worry about the lack of multi tasking in WM7
@massradius I don't think Massradius knows the power of WM and what can be done with it! Check out XDA Developers and see for yourself!
@ITMedCEO I'm there! Since you seem to know what you're doing with WM 6.5 any idea how to make Slick/Beejive the default messaging client? Both are solid but when i get messages neither display on the home or lock screen
This phone kicks ass with some custom roms, this branded rom crapola is way watered down.
@fast What customer ROM do you recommend? I just got the phone and the number of ROMS are overwhelming
@massradius
try nrgz28's roms for the hd2. I use his tp2 ones and they're fantastic. Make sure you use the CT one.
@massradius Best recommendation possible, browse around in sda developers under HD2 rom development. They got amazing stuff there and you can pick something that really suits your needs. If you ain't into flashing yourself they do also have great tutorials.
ROM works and it'll flash you to SPL 2.10 unless you modded it with HSPL_1024. You'll have to flash back to stock 2.08 and then flash this as you should run ROMs with matching SPLs.
However, then you'll probably be stuck until XDA releases a 2.10 based HSPL.
Updated to it yesterday when the news about it broke on other sites. it has been moving very smoothly. I'll void my warranty after it expires, thank you.
My contract is up soon on tmobile, and i want to get an hd2 but not unless they get android solid on it. I know i know, I should go for the 4g, but I really just don't want to pay sprints prices, especially with the addon for 4g etc. I'll be happy with 3g, i've been rocking tmo 2g iphone for two years or so. Time to upgrade!
Any thoughts?
@The Dead Marxist Trio
Yea... its upgrayedd with two d's for a double dose of that pimpin.
@KrazyCalvin
I love Idiocracy. "It's got electrolytes!"

According to what I've heard the pricing for the Unlimited package is the same on Sprint as for T-mobile even more plan. The difference is the added fee for the Wimax
Does anyone know of an android version of the HD2 coming out anytime soon for T-mobile? I think it was a huge mistake to run the Windows Mobile 6.5. They should've at least tried for version 7. And know They're saying it's not even going to be available for an OS upgrade. Makes me want to switch over to Sprint for the Evo
