Engadget Mobile Podcast 040 - 05.27.2010
Hey y'all, we are back! Was it worth the wait? Things have been a little loco since we last rapped at ya, so you know there's going to some strange stuff going down in this podcast -- EVO 4G analysis from the pedestrian (kickstand worship) to the positively Ziegleresque (Froyo - delicious enough to be worth the wait?), and speculation on a few devices found in the bottom of executives' dumpsters. Also, at the end of the show Chris turns into a robot. A real robot. Don't ask us how he does it, but you can hear it in his voice. Amazing!

The tangent about the Nexus One really could have been chopped out. You can download an HTC keyboard to use if you want!
@Nickedynick
I agree, get the HTC keyboard and sideload it, a MUCH better keyboard.

"eating dinner in front of a kickstand EVO"
haha, awesome, i know i'll be doing that.
RSS feeds not updated
@Manny Fleurmond Yea, I can't subscribe it either...
@Manny Fleurmond Sorry, we're looking into it!
@Chris Ziegler Hey Chris, great to have a podcast from you guys again. Please will you let us know when the RSS is working again - playing havoc with my OCD approach to podcasting in Android's Listen app!
@privatesam
What does the first "S" in RSS stand for again?
Why was the mobile podcast away? Im confused =[
@MayankS
i have a feeling that Sean's lost somewhere in the Canadian wilderness.. but that's just a guess ;)
@glenskey but he's back =]
Not seeing it in iTunes...
No Sean? Oh well, I hope he'll be back.
Thanks for doing this, Chris. Although Engadget Podcast talks about Mobile a lot these days, Chris' expertise on the mobile industry is very informative and entertaining to listen to.
I don't know if I want Engadget Mobile back in my life it's just going to break my heart again.
awwwwww its back, but for how long :o(
Chris - His point on 4G was that the network, while great when it works, is not a robust network, and in practice, most of the high speed usage will be over wifi.
There's just not that many people who need to download HD hulu videos on the bus.
Still not pulling up in the Zune software.
OMG OMG ITS BACK
*cries for pure joy*
You guys should just drop the podcast if you're not do it in the regular.
What? You don't have a free hour every week?
heh, i was expecting a more twitter-esque tront, not this almost civilised trent ;)
oh, and i think we need more robot voice in the podcast
@glenskey
Oh he was beyond civilized. Never have I seen (heard) such an awesome display of cordial decorum on a podcast. I came to learn about smartphones. I left, with a new appreciation for the people I love, and kickstands.
I also carry around a pearl 8130. Played with a droid incredible last week, it was awesome, but man I love my tiny phone!
@mrschticker
Yeah I still rock a samsung x820 from time to time even though the 9 key doesn't work. Leads to some creative text messages.
Not seeing it in RSS feed.
RSS still not showing this new podcast!
RSS should be fixed, folks!
Hey I ponder about when the next Android will come out... hence why I want a Nexus 2
Well, it's official -- Chris is a Cylon.
@tront shouldn't feel too bad; I'm still rocking the original AT&T Tilt. Nothing says 2007 quite like Windows Mobile 6.1. It's been really frustrating having basically zero high-end options on AT&T besides the iPhone, and I really hope that someone - Palm, Motorola, whoever can manage it - gets some high-quality hardware on AT&T soon.
Verizon has managed to completely turn things around within the last 8 months or so, and they've now got the most complete smartphone lineup of any carrier. They've even given up their old ways of crippling devices arbitrarily (like blocking file sharing over Bluetooth) and now do things like offer the free mobile hotspot feature for the Pre Plus. Combined with their reportedly reliable network, I'm finding it hard to think up any reason to stay with AT&T besides an Apple fetish or 'rollover minutes'.
The nexus One keyboard isn't the problem, the problem is the touch on the Nexus One is all messed up. It's just more noticeable with the keyboard since it has to be precise when touching a key. This drives me crazy with my Nexus One. I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue, or a combination of both.
