Motorola i1 hitting Sprint on June 6, in stores on July 11?
Look, the i1 isn't that spectacular of an Android phone, we know -- but to the iDEN crowd, this represents just about the coolest thing that has ever happened to the network. This shot we've received today seems to indicate that the phone will be available by direct ship on June 6, just over a week from today, while it'll "launch into the rest of the sales channels" on July 11. We're not sure why there's such a gap there, but at least you should have some way to get it in just a few days' time. Interestingly, Sprint is pointing out that the phone "may appeal to customers that may not have previously thought of iDEN as an option," so expect the i1 to get marketed beyond the typical rugged, outdoorsy crowd that usually dominates Direct Connect. Everyone excited?

I kept the I-930 in Service since 2005 but I guess it's time to get the I1 on the 6th. The only disadvantage may be that I have to upgrade my plan to include data services since data was free (like the IM-240, I-920/930).

Some reports on the web are stating that the i1 will be available on Boost Mobile, Sprint/Nextel's prepaid service. If this is true, unlimited voice/data/text would be $50 / month without a contract and you could transfer your phone number and still use Nextel's iDEN network. WILL THE i1 BE AVAILABLE ON BOOST FOR SURE?
@gs70119
I know that Boost Mobile will offer the phone but I am using the phone on trips to Mexico and Canada and I have been very much in love with the FREE DATA while Roaming on NII Networks or Telus. Nextel offers since 2005 free data roaming North and South of the border (trial). You can't roam with Boost. In addition I am not a big fan of the Boost Mobile UI and prefer the good old Nextel stock.

fantastic except for iden data
iDEN is still very much alive and most emails are short enough so you don't mind the available speed of the iDEN networks. Sure, Boost is domestically a great option but not if you run a business as some options are not available on Boost.
Signing another two year contract is fine for me because SprintNextel delivers the value I seek.
Actually, Boost gets the i1 this Monday. So they will have it a solid week before Nextel iDEN does. That's pretty sad, if you ask me.
Boost has the slowest data network, compared to metro pcs, which sucks, but if it adopts the sprint CDMA network like the boost blackberry, then it will be ok, and might go for $60/mo for the extra data fees if it will have android... BTW, im sure since it's boost, it will have a fairly old version of android and won't b able 2 upgrade 2 froyo/2.2
