Dan Hesse email: 'no current plans' to alter data pricing
Bypassing a company's power structure altogether and contacting the CEO directly is the vogue thing to do right now -- and in light of the AT&T incident this week, it probably behooves said CEOs (and / or their assistants) to earn some PR brownie points by responding with a positive attitude. Take this response from Sprint boss Dan Hesse, for example, in reply to a request that the company "keep [its] great pricing and customer service, and most importantly -- keep unlimited data." In short, Hesse says "one can never say 'never,' but [the company] has no current plans to change our pricing." That's certainly the "correct" thing to say coming off AT&T's big strategy shift toward killing unlimited and hints from Verizon that it'll do the same, but whether Sprint is able to hold the line when the WiMAX airwaves are flooded with EVO 4Gs and EVO 4G-like devices is another matter altogether. We'll see.

Dan. You are the man!!! I never been happier to be a sprint costumer. P.s. Dan Hesse has been named n or has been a candate for best CEO of the year more than once. I think what he's doing at sprint really reflects that. That nigga is a pimp! Lol o and nt to mention there CFO. His the best there is. Thanks to him sprint has a 25% free cash flow (better then att 10% and verizon 5 or 15% cnt remember exactly) maybe that's why they can afford this cheap ass plans at a great value with awsme everything! Another p.s. Sprint premier. Best invention ever! New phne ever 12 months. Who can say no to that? O n the covrage n extreamly reliable 3G... Man where do I stop. The costumer service. Longest I waited is 3 minutes. Sprint really does desrve a more then successfoul turn around
@saddam3. Exactly! Just keep up the great service and great plans and they'll keep a happy costomer! Sprint needs to turn up the heat with high end mobile devices though I will say that. Evo is a start. Pretty happy with my S moment right now. Psyched to see what well have come Feb when I'm due for my S/P upgrade!
Corporate-speak is worthless. Until a company publicly announces they're doing something, they will always say "we have no current plans to ". Just last week Ford did this - they said "we have no current plans to drop Mercury" and then a week later they dropped Mercury.
Surprised he has time to respond to emails in between all those commercial shoots ;)
Thank you Sprint for keeping your current pricing structure. I am certainly glad I have been a Sprint customer for all these years and not having to worry about switching carriers or anything because of this AT&T plan pricing changes! It's also worth noting that Sprint already has the best plan pricing, and let's not forget any-mobile anytime!
@Shawn Oh and Dan makes a good CEO for Sprint. He actually responds to and listens to customers, where AT&T's legal dept wants to take legal action on those who email the AT&T CEO? Who has the better customer service now?
Very nice, Dan Hesse! I'm looking forward to switching over to Sprint in a few hours.
Also, AT&T responded to the hullabaloo about their C&D threat with their tails between their legs http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2010/06/03/att-apologizes-to-the-guy-they-threatened-to-cd-for-e-mailing-their-ceo/.
Not a good day for AT&T. Then again, is it ever?
He should put this at the bottom of all of his emails now - "And if you email me again, there will be a C & D letter following - just kidding, we are not AT&T =)"
In a few hours, I'll be playing with my EVO and locked into a new 2 year contract with unlimited 3G/4G data. I will be one happy camper!
I would never switch to sprint, the world is going wireless and with that data use is a big issue with the carriers right now, sprint and tmobile can't handle the customer loads like AT&T and Verizon and they're network will show for that over time. Eventually all the carriers will go to tiered data plans for everything is becoming data. Tmobile and sprint maybe cheap now but they are just absorbing as many customers as they can until they can get absorbed by a bigger company and become that companies problem. So what AT&T did it first best believe there playing the field smart. 90% of users don't need unlimited and for the ones that do quite complaining as long as this has been going on and you all continue to bash AT&T while we still have 81 million consumers and not because of the iPhone but because of what we offer, flexibility, choice, options, business benefits, every smartphone OS, fastest 3G network, unlocked devices.
@00 your a funny Guy.
@BrianlikeshisMoment sprint still has more daa traffic then att. How do you explain data strain on that? Att has twice the costumers but cnt handle half the data that aprint can per costumor? Lol funny
@00 I agree 110% finally someone that knows something besides being a sprint BOT. Cdma=Trash. Spring also has the highest turnover rate. That's why They had to drop there prices. I'm 2 hours from Houston and They still don't even have 3g. What a joke. The only good thing about the EVO is its GSM compatible. Oh and sprint is already setting themselves up for failure. With wimax. Clearwire already saying. Uhh uhh even if we fail we can update to work with LTE. Joke. AT&T and tmo will be hitting sprints Wanna be 4g speeds. Peace Sprint Bots. Bring the heat.
I just speak the truth. At the end of the day numbers don't lie. Sprint and t mobile continue to bleed customers even with there better plans there's obviously a reason for that. If yal don't understand the wireless game by now your all surely mistaken I've been in the business of mobile tech for years its all a trend it gos in loop the worlds going wireless and big blue and big red r gonna b on top of that world why becaus they r able to service there customers on the money they gain. U can't run a business and keep everybody happy and connected on free and as more people go to sprint and tmobile they will realize just that
@00. "The trend is the world is going wireless". Wow. How fucking insightful. All I have to say is we...will...see.
Matt to Dan: Promise me that you will keep your great pricing and "customer service"
Are you kidding me? Sprints pricing may be competitive but their customer service absolutely sucks.
I'm happier paying more for decent customer service than paying less to deal with a company that in my opinion is flat out unethical.
@jhunter9918
You are a funny guy, I hope you aren't going to say that AT&T has better customer service, because they have absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had, their "account reps" bleed you for every penny, they don't care about customers that is why they doubled their fee to break the 2 year contract. With Sprint I have gotten so many bills with "10-20-30% off just for being a long time customer" that I would never switch even if they did limit their data plans. I have debated a bill for $30 with AT&T for 8 months before they finally dropped it, that is absolutely ridiculous, I hope that company wakes up and gets rid of the decision makers. I have no experience with Verizon so no comment on their service.
