Samsung Vibrant launching on July 15 instead of 21?
We've just been tipped with a document claiming that the Samsung Vibrant -- T-Mobile USA's flavor of the Galaxy S -- is now slated for a July 15 launch (with devices actually shipping to stores on the 7th) versus the July 21 date that had been pegged at the official announcement. Interestingly, this lines up with a completely different document that's been slipped to TmoNews today, so we tend to believe it; question is, why the change? Is T-Mobile looking to get a Super AMOLED jump on the competition, seeing how all four US nationals are launching a version of the phone? On the outset, seems like it wouldn't be a dumb move, though we can't imagine many folks jumping ship and heading to T-Mobile to pick it up when they know they can wait a few days and get a virtually identical phone (or in the case of Sprint, an arguably even better phone) on their own provider.

T-Mobile's next big Android flasgship device. Hopefully they sell a lot.
I tend to think that AT&T will sell more than T-mobile will since this (Captive) will be the FIRST Android flagship phone for them.
@Rabid will at&t allow the android market now?
Big TMO news day...
This is music to my ears.
In only one month... TMo is bringing out Android 2.2 for the MyTouch.

I'll stick with that for a while
The 15th is Droid X launch day too, so they may be trying to steal some thunder from Verizon, maybe stopping some people from jumping ship for the new shiny, and of course getting their Galaxy variant to market first doesn't hurt either.
FYI - Engad.. the 7th is today :)
Wu.
I think the only reason someone would switch between Sprint and T-Mobile (either direction) is hardware. They're both lower-priced "alternative" carriers with comparable offerings.
The real question is whether they can entice people off of the Big Two, but people on Verizon are generally there for a reason that is neither price (certainly) nor hardware. Verizon is signal ubiquity or business need. People on AT&T are there for... um... the iPhone, I guess.
There's also the fact that the bulk of people have no clue what their options are, so they just go with the name they recognize. Hey, it worked for Windows...
YES! Finally a replacement for my aging G1!!! Can't wait!!! There is only so much life Cyanogemod can breath into my old G1 :)
well hopefully this means the epic will be coming to sprint a bit later! can't wait as a sprint customer who has had to put up with a rant. glad sprints finally getting something good. But on the subject of this phone, I'm glad for T-mobile, all their other phones are crap except maybe for the mytouch slide. which even, then, not amazing. anyways, a great phone!
People on AT&T are there for similar reasons as everyone else: signal, business need, price, etc...the under intelligent make snide remarks showing the lack of intelligence & facts ine their argument.
So how much will it be to get it unlocked from T-Mobile?
