Droid Incredible now getting big OTA update with 720p recording?
That rumored software update for HTC's Droid Incredible is apparently now hitting some devices, and it's a doozy -- it's impressive enough, in fact, that it darn near gives you a new phone (short of Froyo, anyway). The headline features are the addition of Verizon's mobile hotspot app (for which you'll pay $20 a month for 2GB in order to use) and 720p video recording, a feature that's becoming virtually standard on top-tier smartphones this year -- including Sprint's EVO 4G, which essentially shares the Droid Incredible's camera hardware. You'll also get the Skype app integrated and some other Verizon-related software goodies plus a sweet new boot animation, so overall, you're definitely going to want to accept this update once you're phone notifies you that it's available. Don't be afraid -- remember, it's the evil Droid eye that you really need to fear.

Droids keep doin'
@The Stig Droid wins again
I just got this phone when it came out and a few days after I heard Verizon will be getting the Droid X with all the sophisticated features that this phone lacked... made this phone looked weak and outdated. With this awesome new OTA update will definitely make this phone feel brand new once again and can hang with the top new Droids (sorry Droid Eris....).
Sweet! Anxiously waiting!
going and staying in 3rd place
BEST SMARTPHONE....EVER!
@leefox
You Sir, are CORRECT!
I've been incredibly (sorry) pleased with this phone, even after coming off a 3year stint on iPhone. It's blistering FAST, ANC the screen really puts all others to shame, with it's ridiculous contrast.
I tried Android when it was first released and did not have a favorable experience with the phone. This, however, is a dramatic improvement over the old Android phones, and dare I say, even iPhone. Even little things (like call blocking software) have added immeasurable usability to the Droid Incredible.
Now, if I can only get this update going I can retire my Flip Ultra.
Gosh, I wish they would update it and remove a lot of stuff. I want my phone to be more like the #1 smartphone!
@Jeremy White
RIP, Richard Dunn.
This only makes the mobile site, but if Jobs farts it makes breaking... what a shame.
What?
The Droid Eris is supposed to be getting a smaller OTA rollout this evening as well.
@NickAVV
Sorry dude. Droid Eris is dead. Upgrade your Droid.
@NickAVV
What is it getting? My wife has one.
@CorpsmanUp I would love to upgrade my phone, but I can't afford off-contract pricing in the slightest, and my contract doesn't expire for a good year and a half. Trust me, if I somehow get a new phone for free I'd be happy to drop my Eris. Until that point however, I'll take what I get, and Verizon is still supporting the Eris, even if they're not restocking it anymore.
@cobjones It's getting "Improved audio controls", a stabilized and improved weather app/widget, a speed dialer that lets you save people to it somehow, and other sync related improvements. It's not 2.2, but its a good holdover until there's a root with 2.2 and Sense, or an official OTA (bahahah)
@NickAVV
Yah.. ill keep waiting for that ota... I like my wifes phone.. it lags a little compared to my droid, but the on screen keyboard is much better
I wanna see the quality of the 720p video, the one of the Evo is beyond terrible.
Waiting. The thing with the 720p is that its only viewed on your phone. Once you try and email it or port over to a pc it becomes compressed. Wish this phone had a HDMI port.
720p is nice but I'm noticing a big improvement in battery life and better reception with cell and WIFI. Anyone else seeing this?
@Mezmryz03
You got the ota??-when?
@Claret I cheated and got the OTA from the XDA Developers website. It is a leaked version so it may change a little from the official release. Either way, if you're ok with modifying your phone it works great. Not a single issue since I updated. Also if you need to downgrade there is a way(albeit a little technical) to get back to original settings.
@Mezmryz03 Forgot to mention you do not need to root for this.
Has anyone gotten the update yet?? I can really use a better battery life...
This is so false...no update since the last one the Droid incredible got...I'm still waiting!
Fals
False, false x10
Just spoke to a Verizon rep in Albany NY and he said the OTA update won't be coming out until this weekend...so I'm goons stop checking my phone every 20 minutes for the update now.

@Ds8231991 thanks for the update on the update! I'll stop checking as well :P
@Ds8231991 it's the weekend - no ota here!!
Wow no update still! Good job..way to lead us on
Still update-free here as well. Did they put a halt on it so we get this and 2.2 at the same time maybe? Or do we have to call shenanigans on this article?
I already got Froyo on mine. It's pretty sweet!
