T-Mobile promises to unveil an HSPA+ phone this summer
As T-Mobile continues to smother America in its quasi 4G HSPA+ 21Mbps network, we're still lacking an actual HSPA+ T-Mobile USA handset to enjoy the fruits of that labor. Well, we might not have that much longer to wait: a tweet from the official @TMobile_USA account says "Later this summer, T-Mobile will unveil its first HSPA+-capable smartphone." It goes on to add that "More details will be available in the coming weeks." Now, the last we heard from T-Mobile on this subject was that the first HSPA+ phone would be an HTC-built Android phone, and this doesn't really contradict that. Let's just hope T-Mobile decides to start off with a bang and indeed kicks things off with that rumored HTC Vision / G1 Blaze (pictured).
Update: Would ya look at that, a teaser site for HSPA+. More interesting, however, is that the source code previously referenced Vanguard (remember it?), but all mentions have since been stricken from the record. (Via Android and Me)

Here's my question : Why would they call it the "G1...." If anything, it should be the G2.
@Ratnok actually wasn't the HTC Magic/myTouch 3G the G3 in the UK already
@Ratnok Because the T-Mobile G2 already came out. It's the HTC Hero.
HSPA+ phone would be awesome, it's not just about 21mbps from higher order modulation, but there are a lot of other improvements to the wireless part.
Will it have tmobiles crappy version of Sense?
21mbps this year, 42mbps next year. Soooo Excited! - D I definitely will be enjoying my 4G speeds very soon.
They said in the code it mentions Vangaurd. Any idea about a phone with that code name?
// RUMOR ALERT / MY SPECULATION
iPhone with 1700 MHz support and HSPA+? That'd be pretty cool.
The first (or second, or third) T-Mobile HSPA+ phone will be the iPhone-4.
hehehehahahahohoohoo. plenty of dessert for all.
or he sideDroid unifix solution with a 4 twat liberty bell attached.
i just had coffee.
Please please please reveal a 5th keyboard row. And a tilt.
Forget the vision/blaze... Bring the evo with a super amoled display and better sensors on the camera... For that I would pay $500 with contact.
@mike7165
I heard from a T-mobile employee this will be T-mobile's "EVO" equivalent and may also have a front facing camera along with the specs mentioned in the article above.
@cboler20
3.7 inch display is, atleast in my opinion dated. I would like to see a 4 - 4.3,16:9 super amoled display. And the rear camera needs improvement on the fps, my nexus one takes better pictures. Ohhhh and get rid of the physical keyboard, our at least make two models; one with and one without.
that phone looks pretty sweet, if the camera specs are up to par i will be getting it to back up my N1.
