I love the internet.

Thanks guys, I was sitting at this too, and I wanted to update before I head to work.
Rats to them.

I'm in the I love and hate my x340. Cheap and thin/light were my main requirements, but I completely agree the keyboard and super sensitive trackpad KILL this machine. I very reluctantly pull it out to use it. Maybe I'll be hocking it around christmas for an upgrade... what a waste of money that would be :/
I have an x340.

I HATE the keyboard, if I didn't only plan to use it one or two weekends a month on travel I would have sold it already.

The size and performance are perfect. The 2.5 hrs of battery life are fine.
The screen is nice.

But the keyboard sucks, I find touch typing hard on it cause the key distinction isn't so great. It also flex's a lot, hard to describe, but loud and feels very flimsy.

What's worse is the trackpad palm clicks all the time. I find it very hard to casually type on the thing, you have to constantly be aware of floating over the keyboard or you'll accidentally click while typing.
And after reading further.... I don't know where I sit on this.

Apparently jailbreakers don't get this problem, only unlockers, in which case.... it doesn't really effect Apple's prefered customers. Feels more like an Apple time bomb for unlockers. People should be entitled to unlock their phones, so part of me thinks this is really lame of Apple, but then unlocking isn't allowed so you accept limitations (like no 3g on T-Mobile) so there's that.

Meh.
@IIW That's only half right. This is the 3rd revision of the OS and they've had 2 years of a considerable number of people jailbreaking their phones. The problem with your logic is that Apple not planning for the fact that people would continue to jailbreak their phones has caused distress for Apple's prefered customers (those who haven't jailbroken their phones). So as a "talented" software developer, they really should have designed their system to fail more gracefully.

They put their head in the sand and now they need to scramble to jury rig a solution rather than having done it elegantly in the first place. I agree, Apple fail.
I still think it should make better use of the internet, but I was unaware of that solution. I'll have to try it.
Are they going to fix the fact that it SUCKS to try to play games with your gamertag on a friends console? Everytime you want to use your gamertag on another system you have to recover it... ok I can see that being necessary the first time I go over my friends house, but then when I return home I have to recover my gamertag on my home console?!?!

The system is broken :( I know Microsoft wants us all sitting home playing games a safe distance away from people, but some of us have local friends and want the benefits of our gamertag when we're playing games with them locally.

Just annoyed and was hoping Microsoft might address this flaw in their system.
I'm desperately looking for a headset for my convertible.

Part 1 of the problem is people hearing you, which I've been waiting for this bone conducting tech.

Part 2 is you being able to hear them, and on the headset or two I tried a couple years ago, they just didn't sit snug in the ear like my Shure earbuds. How is the headset you mentioned as far as you hearing people?

Any chance of you testing this on the road Engadget?
Previously you only got the different colors with Mobile Me or Mac sync'd calendars, but I might not be understanding what you are particularly refering too.

Suppose you have 2 calendars on your phone (Work and Personal) when you create an event on your calendar (Doctor's Appointment) you can choose which calendar it gets assigned too. IIRC Each calendar will have a different color to represent it's events in.
Am I the only person that hates this backwards post? Every time I refresh I basically have to scroll past spoilers of what I'm about to read, atleast when it's top down the browser automatically takes me to where I left off before the refresh.

I was excited this crap had stopped after the 360 press conf yesterday.

ugh.

Great coverage, I just hate the presentation.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
