Everyone thinks its "cool" to hate vista. Most of the problems can be fixed easily. I'm running HP x64 and i haven't had a problem yet. If you have an old computer i'd say stick with XP. Its not a resource hog, it just uses whats available for its indexing system. The only reason i got vista was for DX10, unless you have the parts, don't get vista. I built my computer, its a monster and its an up-to-date machine. I haven't had a single problem. If you don't like UAC than disable it, it doesn't take a computer genius to do that. If your not into computers and don't have an up-to-date machine than don't get it! Nobody is forcing you, theres nothing your missing, if you don't do anything that requires a good machine, than theres really no reason to upgrade.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
