The 8525 WM6 Rom has been available for months.
Yep, since I got my Tilt I still use my SIM-less 8525 for testing (before I sell it soon). It works fine with the phone off and Bluetooth/WiFi on.
Google Maps works great with the GPS on my AT&T Tilt
The Mesquite, TX store called me. They got some in today too.
I called around to a bunch of stores in Dallas. Some had no info for me, but one (Park/75) not only got 4 phones in, they allowed me to buy one a day early (on the evening of the 4th). And that store had the best customer service I've ever gotten in an AT&T/Cingular store. The phone is a little heavier and looks/feels smaller although I think its the same size. Feels solid though. And the GPS works great with Google Maps.
I do use my cellphone as my alarm clock...

but I don't want to use an alarm clock as my cellphone...

especially since the Tilt will soon be mine :)
Finally!
I hope its not locked. I'm looking forward to using the Google Maps app with GPS.
Verizon sucks... unless they decide to bring FIOS to my neighborhood...
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
