Verizon just getting the 755p? Wow, talk about being behind the curve. Sprint is already getting the newer and cheaper Centro. Good job Verizon, way to be cutting edge.
In 18 mos, the Google phone will already be out and selling like hot cakes, the iphone will be in its second rendition, Blackberry will have out several new models and there may even be a Zune phone. Oh, I forgot to mention, Palm will be out of business too.
Oh please, the only reason for this is lack of choice. Until the iphone, in the US it was either Blackberry, Palm or Win Mobile if you needed a smartphone. And since BB and Palm OS are only offered on one manufacture, its easy to see why they (M$) has sold so many units. It funny how I read about how so many people hate Win Mobile in the various phone blogs and boards.
I look forward to Linux and the end of the virtual lock M$ has had on the smart phone market with its crappy product.
Dvorak is just trolling for effect. He's always been that way with anything Apple creates. Anyway, I think he's wrong on this one and the iphone will be the biggest thing in cell phones in the last 10 years.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
