The simple fact that the update broke some "legitimate" (AT&T activated) iPhones is proof that Apple attempted to break the unlock on purpose. I can see no other explanation. I'm sure taking apart the new firmware file would give a lot of insight on the true bearing of the shiny Apple logo.
Plus, The community could just get those fixes in some simple app in installer...
I'm no coder, but how hard would it be to do that?
We've seen programs that disable the auto correct feature, why not an app that fixes the ear piece sound or disables EDGE?
Or the double-click shortcut, would that be impossible?
And for the Apple store? I'm not giving them 1 more cent from my money anyway, so why would I need it?
Some developers have done a better job than Apple developing gizmos for this phone. I think I can survive without updating my firmware.
But guys, how do you bypass that "Activate iphone" screen?
what do you use? I haven't even seen my main menu yet!
Somebody have some pity here!
I don't get it! really.. please somebody post some kind of tutorial.
I tried Ibrikr... the hex modifications... that activate iphone thing...
I JUST CAN'T ACTIVATE MY PHONE...
the screen "ACTIVATE IPHONE" keeps showing up. But when the iphone shows up in itunes, I don't see the AT&T activation proces screen.. it just says couldn't connect to server or something like that.
I'm begging you guys. I'm desperate here.
So will we need any other program then ibrickr? Would I need SSH?
Well you're not alone.
We need some kind of centralized information with all these updates popping all over the web.
Let's say I get an iphone box now.
will ibrickr bypass the AT&T activation process?
Will I be able to update 1.0.0.2?
How do I upload those files? and how to use SSH to run a cmd?
this may all seem basic to you but there millions of people waiting for that kind of information!
You've been awesome guys, but all of this is useless without some kind of walkthrough...
No full tutorial available yet?
This is awesome. Thanks guy!
Pretty please!
I'm buying one tomorrow!
I hope I win this time!
Wow!
I love how fast this site is updated!
I went by it today morning, coming back from AUB. They put the sign up less then 24 hours ago...
I'm trying to get my dad to buy me an appartment there. I want to move out of my penthouse! I want a sea view!
I've had enough of the old Beirut's rooftops...
It does seem a bit tacky, but if the amenities pull it up then I'll put up with a bit of extra bling.
I wonder if it will have a marina access.
They're 475$
I'm gonna check them out at Cartier in downtown Beirut.
I'm considering buying a black one...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
