The problem is the people who do nothing more then call friends and family and talk about it. Even the mayor asked that all uneeded travel be stopped around the area for emergency personel. We do it to ourselves. I can just imagine how it be again if another 911 type attack were to happen. We certainly depend too much on wireless devices.Unlike the old land line phones, which could reroute traffic better to free up local areas affected by increased traffic. The cell towers not only rely on landline systems but their own limits on the towers ability to handled only so many calls at once.Even on a normal day this can happen.I am not sure with current technology cell providers can do much about it.
Being a NASCAR fan for many years, I see the real problem here is between NASCAR and Nextel. I think NASCAR gave too much control over to Nextel for their sponsorship of the Cup series. That's right! Cup sponsorship. What that has to do with a racing team sponsorship I do not know. What if a softdrink or bear company was to sponsor the cup? Would that mean all other softdrink or bear maker's would be excluded from sponsoring a racing team? NASCAR "are you nut's"!!! It's hard enough to find companies willing to be a major sponsor for a team, let alone excluding some prospective companies just because they happen to compete with your cup sponsor. Maybe Nextel would just like to sponsor everything, like the teams, the tracks, the fuel and anything else for that matter!! Yes, when you go to the track all you will see is Yellow and Black Nextel color's. Tell me, do we still have a free market society? Or did I fall asleep for a while and China bought the US for cheap?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
