amazon just began selling the 850/1800/1900 unlocked version for $299. (they also sell the 900/1800/1900 version for $325, but the 900 gsm version gets less reception with att/cingular.) The catch is their saying it will take 4-6 weeks for delivery. When they posted an unlocked version of the nokia n75, it was only a week or so later that cingular started selling it, and amazon began offering a cingular contract phone (for $165 less than cingular's price).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
