...this is really disappointing.... the policy of duplicating Apple's own apps & the worry that consumers will get 'confused' really makes no sense (in fact is just a very poor excuse on Apple's part). Cases in point... the are how many calculator applications? they all add, subtract, multiply & divide just like the one that Apple shipped w/ the iPhone, but some how their 'duplication' is allowed? [big WTF there !] .. & the GPS apps, they all have maps but they are OK, but Google latitude no ? [head scratch] ... Apple please let go of the reins, this is why the iPhone is/was to be cool, it was like getting a very portable computing device that could be as diverse as one wanted it to be just like one's computer (Mac or PC). There aren't the same restrictions on the Mac so why on the iPhone? why does the iPhone need to be different? i can install Office Mac instead of iWork & i'm not damned ... & i'm even grown up enough to tell the difference between the apps.

..Please let us (the people) make our own decision as to what apps we want or don't want & (Apple) just focus on making sure it all 'just works' & stop focusing on what app is better for me to run.... otherwise i will be be running a different device. [i promise]

(i'm a happy iPhone 1st gen user who is looking forward to upgrading to a 3G s, but things like this make me reconsider my decision & hold off ... )

..Red five standing by..

My 1st gen iPhone upgraded fine other than iTunes never seemed to finish syncing after the install completed, but that seems typical for me w/ my windows machine.... iTunes just sucks!

..but went thru my phone & the data is intact & the cut & paste is very nice !! (yeah !) also the overall systems so far seems pretty snappy, but that is likely just my poor impression. The search also works nice. So so far so good !!

Does OS3.0 still have the 148 app limit? If there may the possibility of getting charged to download again i really would like to be able to have more apps than 148...

"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
