White Settlement Walmart in Fort Worth, TX area has them and didn't seem to know they weren't supposed to sell them. I have the Best Buy gift card preorder though so am picking mine up tomorrow so I don't have to blow $100 on something I didn't intend to buy a Best Buy.
Shane seems a bit confused in general. Primarily he seems to be clueless about the tech used in the Fords. It's basically the same as Toyota's. So close in fact that Ford decided to trade patents with Toyota while developing their hybrids and finding some aspects so close to Toyota that they went to Toyota and gave them some of there DI and other engine tech in exchange for Toyota not complaining about Fords similar hybrid design.

Primarily though he seems to think the greater production levels of the Prius and Honda Hybrids somehow make them more reliable?? I have heard nothing suggesting that the Ford system is any less reliable than the Toyota or Honda and am quite certain there is no data to suggest such a thing. It is just not as widely produced yet. The only data he reference he claims is "satisfaction" based? Of course a pompous Prius owner is going to think his car is better than all other hybrids! Particularly since his has the Hit by a truck from behind hybrid UGLY look that makes his "green" pompous choice stand out.
GM should mock this add when the Volt comes out by having a similar spot with NO Volt drivers showing up as most of them will rarely ever be at a gas pump.
@Velsatis The Cobalt SS point is confusing. Think you are trying to knock the SS though. It isn't far behind this car and is actually a mass market vehicle here in the states instead of a low volume special build like this R26.R. To me the fact it isn't far behind makes the Cobalt SS more impressive as it is obviously not in nearly as high a state of tune as this R26.R. Hard to say what time a Cobalt in this level of stripped down, stiffened up, and carbon fiber bits used on this could get a Cobalt down too?
Exactly 1 and 2. The beauty of the Communicator line is just how perfectly the converge a phone with a mini computer!
Yeah. I figure also they don't want to show a new Impala so soon after the refresh of the current one. Not to mention the fact they seem to like to show near production ready concepts if something like the concept will eventually be produced. The Volt for example isn't for sure going to be produced so was allowed to be a more true concept.
Also this whole VTEC thing isn't for me. Helps make for impressive HP numbers and the extra torque is a step in the right direction, but if the wimpy cam lobe is gonna be even more efficient now, all that means to me is that it is going to be even MORE gutless until the switch to the lumpy cam. I just can't stand driving my accord as you have to keep the engine revved WAY up to get ANYTHING out of it. And then fuel milage isn't that impressive at all. To me basically VTEC makes it easy to get good gas milage, but a pain in the ass to get the experience of the added power of the lumpy cam lobe gives it. IMHO I would rather have a more traditional approach or maybe BMW's more varialble approach.
Haven't these been out since 2005??
What a bummer. Been looking really forward to this. Benoit, I think you are correct about last August, I had read that also. At CES this year they were claiming the first sets would be on sale this year. My guess is that you will be able to get them starting this year at some $10k+ limited production price and only in the 50" size. Next year they will go into mass production and have a full line of models ready for the Olympic games. They never really pointed out specifically until now when the big retail introduction would be, just when sets would start to go on sale. Think Plasma happened the same way if I remember correctly. You could get them for extreme amounts of money through odd supply channels for a few years before you started seeing them at Best Buy and such. Just my $0.02
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
