I feel as if the Verizon commercials are targeting more of the service of ATT and not necessarily the iPhone. Yes, they are using the iPhone and "there's a map for that" as a slick way to have people pay attention to their commercial but the map that is shown blew my mind. I own the 3GS and have loved it for the device itself, minus the inability to run background applications. The issue I have is with the outrageous prices for not only the phone but the service as well as the ridiculous restrictions with purchasing the iPhone itself. Almost $500 to upgrade early whereas if I wanted ANY other phone, I could upgrade early as long as I renew my 2-years and ATT would give me the lowered upgrade price. They claim that this is a mandate from Apple but it has become more and more apparent that ATT is milking this exclusivity for all its worth. The coverage is horrible as well, but really for any phone. I'm in Fairfax at George Mason University so it’s not like I'm in the boonies and constantly I have dropped calls at all times of the day in any weather condition. It’s ridiculous to have to pay so much for such shoddy call coverage. If Verizon got the iPhone or started to make different phones (how many Envys are there???) it would not even be a question of how quick I could get over there.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
