Not so completely hard to believe given the piezoelectric effect whereby a crystalline structure can produce electric current when subjected to pressure, and of course a solar cell does the job pretty well... so, I am not totally skeptical that a naturally occurring crystal structure could have some kind of electric potential from absorbed light. Whether it is commerically viable or not would depend on being able to understand and then reproduce the crystal's structure so as to reproduce the effect.
I think the sentence you are complaining about is a play on words from the old saying that "assume" makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me"...because of making assumptions....

Anyway, I think it is encouraging that there is an additional product from a different designer even if the manufacturer of a major component of the produce is the same, because Apple puts out great looking products but sometimes the products might not satisfy everyone's functional needs, (or even work the way everyone wants them to but who forgets that the products dont because they are still hyped up on the cool design.)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
