Ok, it's only about this annoying "This hardware is not compatible" message that Apple introduced to have hardware manufacturers pay them even more license fees (yeah, Apple, squeeze all the money out of the markets you can get, ALL of it!! Even to the detriment of your users...).

Unfortunately you cannot just click away this message, because it is always going to show up again and the Phone is switched on randomly. This is very nice, above all in the middle of the night night.

Ok, there might be one small chance: Isn't there a way to hack this message away? (There is usually no problem at all with interferences, unlike the message says, so a bit of hacking would do the job easily...).
Not so nice: It only supports the iPhone in flight mode. Major glitch. No thanks.
Outch. How can Palm be so stupid?

I mean, yes, you can switch it off, and data is anonymized. So would not even be a problem for European data protection law (I'm a specialist here...). But the reputation damage is already there. Press is going to make a big issue of it (you can't explain a journalist the difference between anonymous and non-anonymous data, he will not listen to you because this will complicate his story or even destroy it). And it won't go away so easily.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid...
Just two things: Please replace S60 by something like WebOS and finally add a touchscreen.

I'm currently replacing my E71 by an iPhone, as it looks like Apply finally improved the keyboard software (the main reason I switched from my old iPhone to the E71 a year ago). Now there is no reason left to stay with a non-touchscreen phone with an OS as completely outdated as S60.

In a way Nokia remind me of the former Palm: They produce new devices for years and years with nothing but babystep changes to the hardware and with exactly the same OS over and over again. This strategy looks sorta dangerous to me, as it almost cost Palm their life.
- Add a reminder to every new calendar entry automatically, as every other phone does!! (I miss them over and over again...)
- Further improve the keyboard: Learn 2- and 3-letter-words, improve propositions of words the user entered himself
- Make vibra longer (0.02 seconds is TOO SHORT, this improve it's only a small change in an config file away, but NO)
- improve battery life
- MULTITASKING
- NO MORE EXCLUSIVE DEALS with carriers (you can't get an acceptable offer in Switzerland cause of exclusive deals: Orange has a bad network (no EDGE, and weak UMTS coverage), Swisscom is way too expensive (times five compared to Sunrise for me), Sunrise does not get the phone from Apple. This is the reason I'm stuck with my Nokia E71 even if the iPhone 3.0 software has been improved so much that I consider a change now.)
- no crippling of the appstore: allow duplication of existing apps, this would allow products like the famous DateBkPro (for good old Palm) to be ported to the iPhone, BiteSMS is way better than the default SMS app, Google Voice, etc
You forget just one thing: The average user does not want to mess around with "tools" to have his computer work. He feels uncomfortable or overstrained. Only nerds do. I perfectly understand Palm.
I use to mention these dryers as a good example for the blessings of technological progress. NICE.
Hey, I just got the e-mail message from Palm, that the Pre would be available "shortly" (the one I had subscribed to for they would inform me if the phone is available). Either this is a complete mess, or they are kidding us...

"Freuen Sie sich schon? Es dauert nicht mehr lange.

Das neue Palm® Pre™ Telefon ist in Kürze im Netz von O2 verfügbar. Palm Pre.

Voraus zu denken ist schon was Tolles. Weitere Informationen"

The "weitere Informationen" Link goes to http://www.palm.com/de/de/products/phones/pre/index.html.
September was sort of a deadline for the GSM Pre for me, and now: I bet they'll even miss Christmas trade in the end. Looks like I'll have get an iPhone 3GS now, at least if they finally have the keyboard autocorrection fixed (not the on-off function, dear fanboys, I mean this completely buggy autocorrection itself). At the moment this does not look too bad, but I'll need a certain time to test this...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
