@z0phi3l Actually, the money (as in profits) is in high-margin smartphones.
@Gaxel "every Nokia hater on Engadget"

Look, it's NOT about Nokia, it's about DRM. It's NOT about Apple, it's about DRM:

Maybe in your world it boils down to us vs. them. Not ours. In our world it's good vs. mediocre, great vs. shit. It is not Nokia vs. Apple no matter how much you wish it were true.
@(Unverified) The price is not "on par," CWM handsets are more expensive. The 5230 CWM, for example, is 110 euro more expensive than the standard model, nearly twice the price.

Oh, and iTunes is DRM-free so there is no device lock-in. But why do YOU keep bringing up iTunes / Apple / iPhone / iPod? I personally have a Rhapsody account. But why should I bother trying to be rational when it's so easy to taunt from behind your anonymity?
@(Unverified) "music is yours to keep forever and ever on your Nokia-device." Really, is that how you want your music stored, on multiple devices over your lifetime?

The music is locked to the handset. You have to buy an additional CWM handset to transfer previously downloaded music. If you want to burn the music to CD you have to buy additional rights.
@Sheppard Um, You know that Canada is part of North America, right?
@Munk we'll certainly put down a detailed review of the N900. What I find fascinating is how forgiving some people are of the device because of its *potential*. I like the device for that very reason but when you're reviewing a product, you have to review the device in front of you, not what it could be next year.

True, I didn't go into the details of S60 5th in that two-party review -- that was chris' role. My role in the review was from the perspective of a user looking to buy into S60 5th for the first time given all the other options on the market. Yes, the video was exaggerated, but it did exemplify my profound frustration with the OS.
@(Unverified) You mean this production N900 I've been using for over a week?
@7070 I do like the N900. I've been using it as my primary device for over a week now. But just because I like it doesn't mean that it's ready for mass market, it's not -- Nokia and Maemo will tell you the same. This phone is for enthusiasts like Engadget readers. Maemo 6 and the hardware it rides should take this platform mass-market.
@(Unverified) Didn't mean to imply that Maemo is beta, it certainly is not. Updated by changing "software" to apps.
Identical? We now have a timeline.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
