AT&T is being greedy. I've worked in the wireless industry for 6 years- $200 subsidy is standard, and quite reasonable (so I was also expecting the same $400 no-contract price). Price gouging is a terrible thing... tolerable when the demand just far exceeds the supply. Sure, lots of people want iPhones, but there's plenty to go around. Maybe a tangent, but look at how Nissan has dealt with their new GTR- Nissan demanded that their dealers sell the new car at MSRP, even though demand is WAY higher than the supply. Some dealers are even having to do a lottery because the list is too big.

I'm a little confused- I've read all news, watched the videos, but after unlocking with IPSF, do you still have to do a "fake activation" with ATT? Maybe once you buy the software there's better instructions?

"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
