Wow, I had no idea people had problems with wireless on AT&T so much. It's been ideal in Columbus, Ohio.
How do people use so much data on their phones (serious question)? SMS/Twitter uses very little data, and I would guess Google Maps and web surfing are fairly light as well. Streaming media and downloading apps & updates is the best I can figure. Maybe AT&T & handset makers should implement more efficient protocols for binary downloads, and/or AT&T could mirror downloads (like, mirror the App Store) at servers connected to their towers. I could see one big problem in that the iPhone doesn't allow background caching, like for streaming radio. If the iPhone Slacker app worked like the Blackberry Slacker app, for example, a iPhone user might not use the 3G network so much.

I think a lot of fault is with Apple, since the iPhone is what's slamming their network so much. If they allowed 3rd party content to sync (like media channels) or if they allowed background caching for 3rd party apps on idle wifi connections or if they had better network implementation, AT&T would be in better shape.
I think the buzz that Sega's Dreamcast games might be coming to PSN is good for Sony and bad for Microsoft regardless of what's really in the works. If Microsoft were with it, they'd either push Sega to squash the rumor or make some kind of Dreamcast-XBLA deal and announcement of their own this week. And speaking of Sega and "squash", Cosmic Smash for XBLA, please?

DEP is also set to OptIn by default, instead of the more secure and just about as functional OptOut. Microsoft should have made OptOut the default.

That being said, there is a prompt whenever unsigned downloaded executable code is launched, unrelated to UAC. I bet there were warnings for every of these trojans, that might have been even more cautiously-worded than the typical UAC prompt.I think this post is needlessly sensational. Windows 7 is decently secure.
I didn't know people could initiate wire transfers online. All my online banking is good for is checking balances and billpay.
Has there been actual theft from online banking exploits? You can't withdraw cash online. The potential for crime is rather overstated, IMO.
I don't know why Apple (still) has a policy of not acknowledging specific bugs.
I don't see what's so suspicious about allowing a different rendering engine within a popular browser. It could be attractive to those who don't want to deal with transferring from Favorites to Bookmarks or having incompatibilities with syncing.
These comments mostly regard hardware, but I'd like to see good SOFTWARE that allowed annotating Powerpoint presentations and PDF files (with automatic zoom), along with indexing and OCR (from file formats like TIFF). The web browser should automatically reformat pages for small screens and have a buffering FLV player for Youtube. Also, there should be a Onenote-style organization system where web pages, documents, and emails can be "sent" (referenced) and tagged. I'd like an email client with Outlook Anywhere support, or at least a notifier for Outlook Web Access.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
