Well I think it makes sense for Verizon to offer more "World" phones. While the consumer demand for international roaming is very very small. The demand for large businesses and government I would think would be fairly high. I really see Verizon offering these kinds of services to compete more with AT&T. I also wouldn't be surprised if Vodaphone starts renting or selling these phones for people traveling to the US from Europe. Since Vodaphone is a Verizon Wireless business partner that happens to own 45% of the company it'd be in their interests to cut down on roaming.
If Sony is involved I'm not sure how "universal" it's going to be.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
