Sorry, not sure exactly how I did that :/

I was going to say that it's not unheard of for Engadget to go along with stacked 'results' in favor of OSX. Every blog despite what it's contributors claim, prefer an OS. It's normal, it's human. Most of us look for ways (perhaps even subconsciously) to determine or justify that the things we like or prefer are 'better' than the alternative in some way. People don't seem to remember that this is a blog, it's not news. And so, obviously there are times when there's an opinionistic or snarky flair in certain articles regarding certain companies. It simply reflects how the writer feels.
Journalistic integrity aside, real information isn't always the priority, not to say that it isn't important...it's just that sometimes page hits rank way up there as well so certain articles are meant to push buttons or incite lots of activity (comments) vs. provide unbiased, factual information.
Engadget's kind of like Fox News in that aspect. But we love it anyway because it's very entertaining and does give us the heads up on gadgets and electronic tidbits. I see it all the time in the reviews done, especially in many of the Windows or Mas OS articles, or Apple and Microsoft related news - and that's where it's to be expected. I can't really name a blog that I've found totally objective or impartial - they all tend to lean one way or the other, especially when it comes to Windows, OSX and Linux information.

I agree with you totally and wanted to add that there are also power management features that these tests don't use - which make the results pretty sketchy as well. I don't know if 7 would get MORE battery time, but I highly doubt that with power management features activated, it would get so much less battery time than XP.
I think there are too many hidden variables to truly test the power management in 7 vs. XP by running certain focussed tests.
7 has way more power management options built in....it's kind of like testing 2 identically built cars gas mileage by just driving them both until their gas runs out and totally ignoring the fact that one of them has 10 different 'gas saving' modes.

Maybe noone else out their messes with their power mode settings, but I do and I know for a fact that I get more juice on 7 vs. XP.
The trick is setting max power saving where possible while on battery, of course. Most tests ignore the subtleties of the PM options in 7.

A REAL test would be 2 identical netbooks, one with XP and one with 7 - running a fresh install of each OS with all updates and newest drivers. Then setting up Power Management to run the longest without turning off/shutting down and recording those results.
Thoughts?

Hmm. It rained all day, and all night...thank God I live where I do otherwise I'd be wading out in a pool of dirty water.
Ugh, nothing on TV. Every channel on stupid comcast, and not a damned thing to watch - maybe I'll listen to some music, oh, I could try On Demand...let's see.
Nah...don't really feel like TV now. Music is where it's at. Ahh...Lady Gaga, she's so different - it's interesting, she's not a horrible singer, a bit poppy but meh. She makes up for it in oddity and freakosity...I like her.
Brr...it's a little cold in here, I should turn the heat on - or maybe just put on some more clothes. A tanktop and undies isn't working out, maybe I'll go curl up under the comforter. Yeah, I'll do that.
Crap! Now I'm hungry...what shall I eat. There's some cantelope in the fridge, hmm...but that makes me poop - maybe some grapes. Gah! Don't want fruits! Want meat! I think I have some burger meat, maybe I'll grill up a burgah....ugh, no...that Windows 7-like burger I got the other day from BK was...ok, not hungry anymore.
What to do, what to do...ahh...I should really clip my toenails, I hate when they even slightly show signs of growth - nah, not feeling like it. Maybe later.
V was ok last night. I hope they don't cancel it. They cancel all my fave shows. I'm going to have to start getting into House and CSI or I'm not gonna have anything to watch on TV. Granted, at least BSG kinda ran it's course...they at least finished it. But oy, the likes of Invasion, Surface, Terminator, The 4400...they should give them at least 3 seasons on contract. If they suck hard by season 2 then use 3 to finish up and not end on freakin' cliffhangers. How the hell do these shows have bad ratings when 'movies' like Locust are made by syfy all the time, the world just isn't fair.
Where the hell did I just put my remote? I JUST had the damned thing, what the heck? I swear this apartment is haunted - then again, the last thing a demon or ghost would want is my remote, let's se...ahhh! Here it is!
Discovery or NatGeo time, I don't feel like music anymore. Actually, I have some stuff to watch on Netflix...
That reminds me...I gotta find out why killer whales play with their food, it can't be out of cruelty...because that would sort of be saying that animals can possibly inherently be cruel, not to say I've ever thought of them as dumb or whatever, but that'd be a bit too much. I suppose if they can be loyal and friendly, they can be evil and cruel too - but I wonder if that's it? Like a kid using a magnifying glass on a bug. Killer whales are from the Dolphin family, and Dolphins play with their food too - maybe it's just, a thing? Hmm...are Blue Whales extinct? I haven't seen one on a documentary in forever...that would be so sad.
Ok, hungry enough to move....must get something tasty.
I'd take this over my dumb atomic alarm clock anyday, even at 99. It has a good chance of success if people like me (cheap, value conscious) are interested. I'd never buy an alarm clock for 40 much less a hundred bucks, and I'm totally interested in this. I just need to see the final design and make sure it has all the features claimed when actually released, and I'll be buying it. It's def. the alarm clock of 2009, and it's about time.
*Steadily removes laptop....from lap*.
No touchscreen or Wifi?! What?! That's SOOOOOO 2008.

In all seriousness, it's not a bad deal for the price. 8GB is a lil' small....but if you directly compare it to some of the other no wifi, 8GB units on the market...not bad at all.
Is there some kind of bottleneck in the software why the phones can't have say, 512mb-1GB of RAM and 2+ GB of application space?
Android phones will never be true competitors to the Iphone until they have some application storage space, they just won't. Because realistically, with Iphone games racking in at 100mb+, 512MB or even 1GB of application storage space (and no option to install actual apps to SD) just won't cut it.

If the iPhone came to Verizon, Sprint or Tmobile, I don't think any tech savvy person would choose an Android device, I don't care how much you say "I hate the iPhone, blah blah blah", the truth is, if it were EASILY available to you, on your network - you'd probably get it. I LOVE my G1, but I'll be the first to say I certainly wouldn't. I wouldn't choose the Hero. I wouldn't choose the Droid and I certainly wouldn't choose the G1/G2 or Cliq. I'd choose the Iphone...why? Features? Nah. Sheer speed and 'flow'.
It's NEVER too soon.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
