Hot Damn. wish i could be there folks, good luck for the event.
gentlemen, may i just say -

out -standing- presentation.

beautifully written, loving the antiquation, i got through every single line of text wanting to read on. you gents have done your homework.

f&^%$ the phone, it's a beaut. exceptional article, regardless of the hardware.
Quick question - the review mentions an outright buy price of $699 for the 32GB phone. Living in the UK, i'm assuming that this would be through AT&T, but know i could be wrong on that assumption; is that for a phone bought straight out of the Apple store? I'd like to consider trying to get hold of a US machine as the price comes down considerably in conversion, from £538 for the 32GB flagship here to £429 (converted from $699) for the same model purchased stateside.

Any info would be a great help; i've given up trying to get Apple's official word on pricing across territories as they just don't seem to bother getting back.
Ho ho. So the iphone's going up in smoke, is it? Not up against specs like those it ain't. Not for a looong time to come.
That's just exactly how apple roll. Damn the consumer as we'll release what we want, when we want, and with no warning whatsoever. I've waited this long for the 32gb; but i figure now i might as well just keep holding out for this nano version that's -apparently- on the cards for sometime soon.

The only real clout that you've got against schmucks like apple (apart from not buying one of their products, of course) is to just wait them out. Bigger memory, better software, hell, even better hardware a fair amount of the time. Just got to hold out until they FINALLY pony up the machine you want. If i could have the 64Gb now, well, that would be my phone-buying career over for quite a few years i'd think, but the way these people work, i'll settle for the Pay-as-you-go 32Gb. If it is in fact on the way.
Still works out cheaper than forking out for the phone AND an 18-month contract at £30 per month. I'm all in. As long as the b@st@rds don't go and dump the 32Gb version within six months but there's been no mention of that whatsoever anywhere, anyhow.
Back into the Apple fold? Possibly, possibly... smashing piece of kit!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
