I think the problem is that they were trying to sold the demomans disadvantage at close range, but yea, hardly anyone will choose the shield over the sticky launcher.

What would they really do though? A person who's really good at demoman proves that it's the most ridiculously overpowered class in the game. If they gave him an explosive powered weapon that was a true match for the sticky launcher, the demomans advantage would be even more ridiculous.
wow, that second to last sentence should read valve to bring these updates to the 360, not pc.
@Rawmander.

There is a difference between TF2 upgraded weapons and say, MW2 upgraded weapons. TF2 weapons are :"sidegrades" in that even when one team has all the upgraded weapons and the other has only stock weapons, the game is still balanced. There are plenty of people who still don't have new weapons on the pc version but have no problem with the balance of the game Because of this, DLC weapons would NOT upset the balance of the game or divide the community.

Another thing to consider about why they aren't updating the 360 version. The 360 version has had poor community support from the get-go, and a lot less people play the game on 360 than the PC. So while it would be nice to support the community is there, there's a large investment to satisfy very few people, which is a hard thing to justify. You also have to consider that every time Valve updates TF2, sales skyrocket for a short period of time. If they did update the 360 version, it's doubtful they'd see a sales increase at all. Add in the fact that they're already pushing the engines efficiency on the 360, and microsoft certification for everything, and it's pretty clear that it's a large project for Valve to bring these updates to the PC with not a lot of return. It would be awesome if they could do it, but I doubt it's gonna happen.
@Eric

I have the streetfighter fightpad for the 360. I use it for all of my arcad-ey games. (I actually don't like fighting games) I think the d-pad works really well. It's a lot like the saturn d-pad. The only con is that it's a wired controller (Thanks MS) but it's really nice. It also has a switch on the back so you can adjust the d-pad to be controlling the d-pad, or left or right analog stick.

And despite the ability for one, I haven't seen a PS3 third party control with concave thumbsticks. Most are just a straight up clones of the dualshock, with button placement and shape being exactly the same. I really wish sony themselves would release a GOOD mimick of the 360 controller, since it's the controller I prefer. There are third party offerings, but they're all lackluster.
sorry, not meant to be a reply to you.

But if M1 pyros were really that hard to deal with, you're doing it wrong.
Now that Joystiq has added all this, they've updated again with soldier updates.
linebeginstoblur,

There's a huge difference there. Again, id is the developer of all three versions of Rage, so the publisher has NOTHING to do with the quality of the game.

EA actually DEVELOPED the ps3 port of the orange box. They didn't just publish it. That's why there was such a huge difference between the 360 and PC versions vs the PS3 version. Rage is an entirely different situation.
It's really not as sinister as you put it. Only the hardcore sony fans were the ones willing to spend $600 on a ps3 with BC. The vast majority of people would rather pay less for a PS3 and keep their PS2. I just bought a PS2 for $20, and I'm much happier with that than I would have been buying a BC ps3 for $400. Nintendo and Microsoft have both offered games from previous generations through digital distribution, and I don't think it's a bad thing. Both are fairly priced, and people can always go out and buy the last generation hardware and games. Adding PS2 games to the PSN would only expand the market.
Real life girls talk to much. Sadly, pixels are still no substitute.
Well, it's good to see competition. Now they both need to add desirable content and improve their shitty gfwl software. At least Shadowrun is priced competitively. That game's actually pretty fun. They need to add Gears and Halo 2, though.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
