I use an NSLU2 with slugos... serves media, hosts backup volumes, etc. It has a 1TB external drive attached. Not the fastest at backup, but it's great for a basic linux computer.

It runs VERY quiet (no fans) and takes very little power. I also took an old d-link router and installed openwrt.

After that i took the boards (and antennae) out of the nslu2 and d-link and mounted those two inside an old slim dvd player case with the harddrive. Total cost: well under $250 (under $200 if you already have a router)

Works great streaming to my computers and xbmc. now to just figure out how to stream to a wii from it...
scum-sucking pig.
My brother has this working on his Tilt (though it was still an early release, so it was buggy), so, yes, it is possible.
Me, I'm waiting on the X1 (MAYBE the touch pro, depending on pricing). I hate WinMo, but i'll use it until Android becomes stable and has enough apps to serve my purposes (I am willing to write one or two, but outside of that I will rely on the community).

When android becomes stable, I'll install it on the X1(touch pro). My brother has a Tilt and it already can "run" android in addition to WinMo. Already it's impressive--nice and quick especially compared to WinMo.
Xperia X1: 800x480
HTC Touch Diamond/Pro: 640x480
iPhone (v1 and v2): 480x320

X1 FTW!

Side note: hopefully the additional resolution doesn't affect battery life too much... though it does have a 1500mAh battery!
High hopes... low delivery. Unfortunately the website interface is just as ugly as the phone interface.
From the sweet name "Engadgetluvsappl" I'm guessing he/she has an iPhone and will be standing in line to get a new one with features "grounded in 2008"... features like, you know, 3G, GPS, mp3 ringtones, front camera... ZOMG AWESOME APPL!
That looks great... just need some specs now on the Dream.

More details will spill out soon, most likely, as google/HTC will want to try to convince iPhone adopters to hold on a few more months (as they will probably do with the Raphael)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
