Amen to that. I have a PS3 and bought Prologue when it came out, where I was promptly disappointed. Forza 2 had been out for over a year at that point and Polyphony still thought it was acceptable to release GT5P without damage? Not to mention the aging PSx controller design's terrible trigger buttons being useless for long racing without some third-party extenders that give it a proper grip shape. I have those now, making Motorstorm bearable, but I haven't launched GT5P in months due to it simply being inferior in all ways to Forza 2 and now 3.

I still have hope for GT5 and will download the demo when it hits, but unless it has some seriously impressive upgrades from where GT5P is at it'll be a no-buy.

@This Man.
Here are the dates of first release for the two series since GT4. Other localized releases may be days (FM) or months (GT) later than first, but this is when we can consider the game itself "final".

GT4: 2004/12/28 (JP)
FM1: 2005/05/03 (US)
FM2: 2007/05/29 (US)
GT5P: 2007/12/13 (JP)
FM3: 2009/10/23 (EU)

As you can see, the entire Forza series has come out between the release of GT4 and GT5. Polyphony needs to get it done or give it up before this becomes DNF: Car Edition
@zamafir at least VW has the DSG as their non-MT option, as a gear-rower I'd love to have a dual clutch in my 325i, but unfortunately BMW won't offer me one outside of the M3 I can't afford.
I won't argue that SMOKING marijuana doesn't have negative health effects, after all you are lighting something on fire and then inhaling the smoke. The chemical makeup of the smoke is different and as far as I'm aware it is less harmful, but it's still smoke.

That said, unlike tobacco there are ways to consume marijuana which have zero long term health risks. First is the vaporizer, which is basically smoking without the smoke. You apply heat to the plant matter in a controlled manner which raises the temperature enough to vaporize the THC (the main active chemical in marijuana) but does not ignite the plant matter. The result is a fog of THC vapor, free of particulates and other things you don't want. Certain higher-end vaporizers even have a "whip" attachment which allows the vapor to be fed in to a water pipe for extra cooling and possibly a slight bit of filtering.

There is also the old favorite of eating the weed, which is more time consuming to prepare and has a longer-lasting but generally weaker effect, but since it bypasses the lungs entirely it has no currently known health risks.

Regarding stoned parents, as far as I'm concerned that is a matter of personal responsibility, not the government's job to police. I'd argue that the kind of person who would neglect their kid(s) over weed is probably already smoking it regularly. If you don't care about your kids, caring about personal possession laws (which in many states are no more than a slap on the wrist) isn't likely to be a high priority. I also agree with badtrip1, I'd much rather have those people getting stoned and crashing on the couch all mellowed out than drunk and angry. I've never met a pissed off stoner and don't expect to any time soon.

Legalize it. This isn't a matter of "americans think" this is a matter of fact. Go to any college campus this time of year on a Friday night and you can probably find someone approaching an alcohol overdose. It is for all intents and purposes physically impossible for a human to overdose on marijuana.
+1 on USB, though please no stupid micro-USB crap, just standard mini-B. Everyone already has a billion and one of these cables, so it's a good thing to allow people to just carry a few of those and be able to charge + sync everything.

Do something like HTC's ExtUSB if you need to extend the port, but make sure that power and data are right there so I can take a standard USB cable I already own, plug it in, and not only charge but also access any cards, the phone's memory, and tether.
Congrats on making it this far without completely selling out. The AOL bit worried me, but so far it's shown to be a necessary evil rather than a problem.
Yea, because filling a huge gap in their offering is nothing but dick waving.

Face it, while some people drive big trucks because they've got a thimble in their pants, others actually have uses for these things. For the most part dually diesels are not driven by the "bling" crowd, they're actually worked most if not every single day from the time they're bought until they hit the scrapyard.
I'm with Netscape on this one. There's no reason to keep hosting that file which will NEVER change (seeing as that RSS 1.0 came out in 2000 and 2.0 in 2002, future development is clearly being done elsewhere) nor is there a reason why RSS readers should be requesting the file so often.

That said, seeing how often it's been requested from so many diverse sources, it would have been better for Netscape to warn the community before taking it down the first time. This blog post having reached Slashdot now qualifies as more than sufficient warning for when it will finally be taken down. Like Dave above, I'd also like to see data on how the traffic to this file falls off following this announcement.
#31: Microsoft did release an updated version of the XDK before the 360 came out which was specifically intended to help developers ensure that their new Xbox releases would function in the 360's backwards compatibility mode.

IMO this shows that they're not abandonning the Xbox platform, but I will admit that the backwards compatibility at this point probably has enough "quirks" that many developers aren't willing to build their games around it.

As for dropping the original Xbox hardware, all I know is nVidia stopped making the nV2X chips (northbridge/GPU) many months ago. Whether that was nVidia's choice (remember there has been some battling between nVidia and Microsoft over pricing, which is why the 360 is ATI powered) or Microsoft's choice I do not know, all I can say is that original Xbox production is logically either stopped or winding down without any more of those chips being produced.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
