My brother-in-law was a cell tower tech for Sprint before this deal began. Almost all of the techs in his area were laid-off or offered a one-year employment at Erickson. [At the end of the year they were guaranteed to be laid-off without the nice package.] I wonder how Erickson plans to keep the towers running well without the number of techs Sprint found necessary? I'd be a little skeptical were I to be a customer.

OK. The website should show "Upgrading is Easy" on the OS 3.0 page. It says to use iTunes 8 to get the software. Click check for updates there and it will start the process. iTunes must not check every time (cached requests or something) since the response was very fast everytime I clicked and then the last time it actually sent packets out (snoop) and returned that the 3.0 software was available. You may be able to restart iTunes and get the same effect if you can't wait.

What link are you seeing the download available or in iTunes? Some people are not seeing the same thing obviously.

Totally agree. The market will help consumers out only if the phones work on different networks. There's no real reason to buy a $700 unlocked iPhone 3G if it doesn't work on the other US HSPA network due to frequency support. The next gen of 3G phones should work on T-mobile, EU and AT&T's bands.

I just want to know if there are any improvements to their ActiveSync implementation. Task sync? Send meeting invites? Schedule resources? Categories (aka colors) for emails and especially calendar events would be great.

Can I copy/paste concall phone numbers from location field in calendar events or reminders? Someone at Apple must use this device away from their desk or laptop. BlackBerry users can do most of these (alas no colors) with impunity. Apple has to take the mobile professional market seriously if they want corporate penetration.

I would be happy with complete implementations of what they already have plus copy/paste. The ActiveSync implementation is a joke. Only the Inbox gets push notification so you have to turn off any filters you have set up that might put emails into project folders. The iPhone also does not let attendees be added to meetings, see other persons' availability, click (to dial) phone numbers in location field for appointments (really a must for business usage when concall numbers are put into the location field). Where is Exchange task synchronization? That's just basic!! While synching notes is an ActiveSync deficiency the other features I mention are available through ActiveSync if Apple would just get their act together.
Push notification for an IM client for AIM/YIM/MSN would be useful since data and phone usage are possible in 3G coverage areas

Tmo's international add-on to the BB plan was around $30/month for unlimited data. If you put your SIM in a 3G dongle, you can surf on Euro 7.2mbps HSPA goodness.

If AB and/or the Administration doesn't find a way to keep AB an American company they will lose Missouri. Period.
