My best friend has the iphone 3G and he relies on Wi-fi continously! WHY? Because he has a hard time keeping 3G LOL... I use Veirzon's 3G and well have no need for wifi! lol. True story: He and i went golfing this weekend and used my aircard with a cradlepoint router (battery version) and placed it on the golf cart so he could have wifi , umm because his 3G is so unreliable! lmao... My Verizon BB worked like a charm... FYI the course we played was only 30 miles from downtown Atlanta... Of course At&t'ers need wifi, 3G network is sad.... Save the hate comments, the truth hurts...
Just my two cents... Bought the Iphone 3g, lots of fun and pretty cool. I could go on and on debating BB vs Iphone, both great devices. HOWEVER, I purchased the iphone thinking I would not really miss MMS, WOW was I wrong! I can't imagine buying another phone without MMS. I will for sure switch to the BB storm-thunder. If Apple is SOOOO great and they can rule the world, what is SOOOO HARD about adding MMS??? This phone will do very well! I guess that was 5 cents worth! OH WELL lol....
Arghhh I get so tired of these peep that are so confused about the Blackberry fan base! Half my friends have Blackberry's and about half have iphones! Most of which are NOT biz customers! Have you looked around at your local Starbucks or local hang-out? You see tons of BB's in the hands of the Abercrombies etc. Granted BB got it's start and footing from biz customers but since the Pearl came out that has changed everything. This device will be huge no matter the carrier it comes out on and I assure you the demographics will look very much like iphone users. Sometimes we forget in these rooms about the "REAL" world, we ARE NOT the typical customer. All I am saying is look around your local Starbucks on a typical 4-8pm day and you will be amazed at the BB carrying customer these days....
LMAO.... Just as thought "go back to VZW Fan boy site" .... I had held some of that in for so long... I will keep my iphone thank you as I said I like my Iphone but as you usual you can't see the forest for the trees! Just keep sitting over in the corner of Starbucks for hours with your friends and call that an outing..... I give up...lol... Thanks for making my day with the responses, it was exactly as i expected...
My two cents... I read engadget multiple times per day as well as BGR and I see all the Iphone fan boys defend their product as if someone was speaking of their mother and the same goes for Blackberry fans, At&T Fans and Verizon fans. I personally have used Verizon for the past few years and have been totally satisfied with coverage and all aspects of their company except for product offerings until recently. I think VZW has heard the readers and bloggers loud and clear and have brought some great new products since the beginning of the year. I am an informed customer an know there is virtually NO difference in pricing between Big Red and Big Blue and I don't mind paying if it satisfies my needs. With all that being said I have a BB curve with verizon and I LOVE this device, RARELY drop a call and the EVDO penetration is by far a strong point. With this being said I AM NOT a fan boy of ANYONE except myself and what works. With all the hype of the Iphone I decided to purchase my first Iphone (16GB 3G) with no intentions of cancelling my BB with Verizon but thought the iphone would be a nice addtition. I have had my iphone with ATT service for over a week now and I will say the iphone is one slick device!! However, I agreed totally it needed an update on the firmware, it's flakey at times and was not the PERFECT device the die-hard fan boys made it out to be. Again, I love the phone and look forward to loading the update and enjoying the benefits. I can hands down say for texting and emailing the blackberry is by far a superior device. I have friends with iphones who text constantly and I can blow them away in speed of typing with a real keyboard as opposed to the touchscreen. Sure there are fanboys that can't type fast on the iphone, but the average consumer will have an easier time with texting with the bb or any real keyboard. What many people in here don't realize is they are not the common user, myself and friends are the mainstream. However, as for sure joy of playing with a device, the iphone is VERY enjoyable. The lack of MMS and CUT AND PASTE simply baffles me on the iphone. To myself and my mainstream friends MMS is critical on a phone and anyone that says Apple didn't drop the ball on this, your are simply not being truthful. This is a mainstream feature and I have found myself pulling out my BB to take pics instead of the iphone because you can send the damn pic with the iphone. Just STUPID!.... Hardware conclusion, all phones have strong points and bad points, but I could never use the iphone full time, but I do love to play with the kewl applications..... THE BIGGEST difference is what I consider to be the most important aspect of owning a mobile phone period, can I make a phone call and keep the call!!!! As with any mobile company there will particular places where one works better than the other, however with this post I am speaking of overall user use in several different areas not "my house or community" as I hear so often in here. In Metro Atlanta, Metro Ft. Lauderdale/Miami and western half of NC there is NO DOUBT Verizon's service is FAR superior! I have dropped more calls in the last week with the iphone than I have in ALL the years I have been with Verizon. Again, I have NO alliance to either company and still love my iphone and will keep it and enjoy the phone. But if I have to make an important phone call there is no doubt which phone I grab, my BB on Verizon. Sorry guys I am NOT here to bash At&t in the least, I just wanted to give you a real consumer opinion. As for the 3G coverage, again it's not even close! If you are outdoors it seems to do ok, but more times than not if you step inside you will lose the 3G, while looking at my BB on Verizon it's on 3G 99% of the time indoors or out. Even while on the golf course this weekend the course is located WELL within the ATLANTA 3G footprint, if I was in very wooded area I would lose my 3G, once in the open fairway, BOOM full 3G on the iphone. With my Verizon had 3G 100% of the time. I am simply posting this to all the haters from both sides that each has strong points, however on the actual coverage there is just simply no question which service is more reliable to talk on. People can say what they wish and I have to say I was hesitant to believe all the tests from Consumer Reports and other publications insisting Verizon's service is consistantly better, they are correct, Verizon is truly the best talkable service out there. The bashers can start bashing this post as I am certain they will, but if you will give it a fair test as I did, you will come away with fewer dropped calls on the Verizon phone than Big Blue. I will keep my iphone and keep enjoying all it has to offer, but for a true business call I will use my verizon service. Consumer Reports ranks them #1 for several years now and sorry to say folks the proof is there.... Keep and open mind and THINK before you post some of these crazy one sided posts.... Thanks for reading!
I have and iphone and love it! However, Engadget is so full of crap when it comes to the iphone! God forbid the phone can do no wrong! Specifically in a previous article earlier today or yesterday you said " we are using wi-fi because we can't get 3G where we are even though we are clearly within the footprint. Then to say in this article "all of our test units around the world have worked just fine" lmao... You guys should just call this site Iphonegadget.com! Again, I own the iphone and love it, but come on will you guys please remember where you came from and what got you here!! I know myself and a ton of people don't cherish your site or visit as often as we once did. Is this phone really worth your reputation??? 3G btw is working great in Atlanta btw..lol...
Trooth: I couldn't agree with you more. I rarely post on this forum simply because people usually have nothing but hate comments for any carrier other than what they are using. It truly cracks me up! Sure you can find faults in ANY carrier but the VZW haters seem to scream the loudest when they put a foot forward in a good direction. I have owned phones from all the big carriers and currently use the iphone with Att. All the haters can trash VZW all they want and say how horrible they are, but when it comes to the bottom line of customer satisfaction, they have been at the top of the list for a long time. If you don't like VZW then go with the carrier of your choice, it's your right! But don't be foolish with alot of these comments, vzw has a business model that has worked VERY well and they have the numbers to back it up. Readers can trash my comments all they want, but facts are facts. All I am saying is don't be foolish, VZW customers are clearly the happiest customers in the industry with their provider. Just the facts!....
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
