Any confirmation on a 700mhz band being included in the certification? I think the Whitestone is a Touch Diamond2 with MediaFLO (live TV)
The Pearl 8230 will probably be aGPS-only (i.e. not unlocked GPS like on the Storm).
The Versa is pretty sweet--and I think the data plan is worth it (I hear it has a native Opera web browser?)
Don't get all excited just yet--the Sprint Software Store is powered by Handmark, which also has it's own branded software catalog. I bet that the Treo Pro was accidentally included in their Sprint device database due to a Handmark error--not because Sprint is launching that device soon.
I believe a Samsung "i910" with EV-DO has been blogged about for awhile now. This is probably the same device?
Standalone GPS will in fact be unlocked--how else could Verizon and Vodafone offer a global phone if GPS wasn't available abroad? Yes, BlackBerry Maps will work with the built-in GPS, as will photo geotagging in the camera app. Assisted GPS will be limited to certain applications.
I'm surprised HTC didn't just buy Palm for the brand name and fire everybody already. It seems like they want to be more than just an Asian OEM, but using Palm's brand would've been better than self-branding their devices.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
