I can confirm the update on my iPod Touch (Gen 2) now allows it to connect via Bluetooth stereo to a car receiver (Anycom BAR-10), which is previously only recognized, but wouldn't connect. The Bluetooth streaming also doesn't seem to be interrupted, when using Wi-Fi as previously experienced on occassion, however I haven't yet had the opportunity to put it completely through its paces.

What they missed was to integrate AVRCP functionality!!!!
This is in regards to the freakin' platform for both iPhone & iPod Touch:

- Include/support the standard battery of Bluetooth profiles
- HFP
- A2DP for all devices as it does NOT work on all A2DP compliant devices!!!
- AVRCP
- Serial Profile
- Dial Up Networking
- etc....

- Memory Card Slot

- Slide out Keyboard or better yet an accessory, where the iPhone/iPod Touch would slide
into and provide a Keyboard AND additional battery resources

- Have a more robuts Contact & Calendar like the Papyrus add on for Windows Mobile as
that is the best ever and beats Blackberry's hands down, too!!

- Provide US Carrier independence as they need to diss AT&T and their buggy network!!

- Background Processing as WinMo and BB have been doing it for years!!!!!!!!!!

- Improved profile management regarding calls/alerts/emails/notifications/etc...

- Flash support as I can't tell you how many freakin' web pages have chosen that platform vs.
Quicktime!!

- WMV support as I get them in emails all the time and need to view them from a Windows
Device, so that doesn't help their market share cause!!!

- Charging contacts similar to the approach used by Blackberry with their charging pods as
it is the best approach hands down

The $60/mo plan is by far the best value, when compared to the $40/mo plan as one gets approximately 20 times more data for only 50% more money.

Plan MB GB

$40/mo 250 0.24
$60/mo 5,120 5.00

Var # $20/mo 4,870
Var % 50% 1,948%

However, for the casual user, the $15 "Day Pass" plan could make sense????
I'm dying to use it with my iPod Touch!!
What about packaging??? For example, if one has a family plan or have services billed monthly of at least $150 and at least 1 smartphone plan (i.e. Blackberry), they should provide some really attractive discounting, such as the 5 GB plan for $25!!
I completely agree as they should have tiered pricing with a few more options along with rollover bytes - they could be the first to launch that feature and boast the marketing behind it like AT&T has done well lately with minutes.

The $40/month plan should at least provide 2 GB and they basically back you into the $60 per month plan.... Also, is there a GB cap for the day pass - if not, load up on it!!!
Looks like Tivo might finally be digesting some suggestions made over on the Tivocommunity forum..... This is something they should have jumped on a few years back!!

Yep, but my guess the service pricing will mirror their USB Sticks & PCMCIA/Express cards of around $59/month..... I'd love to get one of these and am hoping they will provide some packaging promotion say if you have a Blackberry, your incremental rate might only be the 'tethering' amount or something nominally more than that amount of $15. But reality is it will be around the $59/month....
The most data I have ever used in 1 month over the past 3 years with a Verizon Smartphone / Blackberry was 297 mb, which is a paltry 6% of the 5 GB cap, so I don't think this would be a problem. This device is not intended to be downloading 5 HD movies per month or constantly using, however it should well suffice for those of us who prefer to remain with Verizon due to the quality of their network and have mobile iPod Touch access!!!
The new iPod Touch better come with integrated bluetooth stereo functionality and of the A2DP/AVRCP variety or they are just further cementing their arrogance as a Consumer Electronics company!!! Consumers have been clamoring for it for quite some time and it is not a feature, which will cost hundreds to incorporate - it's strictly tied to their arrogant marketing principle, where they think when one see's another with white corded headphones coming out of their head, they are presumably connected to an Apple producte!! Get over it as they already have a huge market share and now integrate the functionality in order to take the iPod/iPhone to the next level!!

If they keep this up, they will find their sales curve flatten out as other products are now providing connectivity to iTunes, which will have Bluetooth Stereo functionality (i.e. RIM Bold/Thunder).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
