This thing MIGHT have had a chance, like LAST Christmas when GPS systems were the 'in' gift. I just don't see ANY reason Id buy this over a Pre, iPhone 3G S or Storm II. All of the devices I stated will have or do world-class turn-by-turn real time GPS features. Its akin to car manufactureres wanting 2K for their nav system. No offense, but Ill stick with my Sprint Navigagtion which is better than say a Dash ever was.

These GPS companies are SO fucked, Garmin at least saw this and tried, but it realized it couldn't do it alone and didn't have the cash to bring a real phone to market and enter Acer, King of Cheap Shit that Works 'O.K.'.
Ive been using my Sprint Palm Pre for about two weeks now and am torn between keeping it, or swapping it out for the Sprint RIM Tour. According to @boygenius who is the only one to compare and review both so far, the Tours build quality is much better in addition to the reception being 2X better! As you may have guessed, those are the top to complaints of my Pre. Here is a list of my Pros & Cons:

CONS: Cheap feeling, screens a bit 'wobbily', Matte Battery cover should be standard as poster above notated. Reception is only average for voice, Data always seems to get a signal and is very quick. Also that stupid button at the bottom is useless and they could do more with the gesture area. I mean, if the whole screen is a gesture area, whats the point of a second one? No expandable memory is inexscuseable in 2009. almost 2010. There is NO reason they could not have put that in, especially where the SIM slot will go in the WCDMA version. Also, no voice recognition for a phone that Multi-Tasks? Again, NO reason, its standard on FREE Sanyos & LGs people. Other stuff Ill let slide because its a 1.0 release.

PROS: I really like the multi touch screen, it seems to be nicer and clearer than the iPhone. Also, its very fast in certain apps (like web browsing) vs. my old iPhone 3G. I like the keyboard a lot, i thinks its perfect. It would be nice to have an on screen one via landscape a la G1. Also, the few apps that are available are very well done and don't all have the SAME gay interface as the iPhone apps. Also, my coverage is much better with Sprint than AT&T, I rarely drop calls. Im also considering getting a femtocell for home which AT&T does not offer. Also, my bill went from $140 to $80. Thats some real change. Finally, webOS is nice, I would even say nicer than Windows Mobile 6.1 or OSX.

The Tour, having the same GPS system, voice recognition and more apps is VERY tempting, but I also know that BB OS 5.0 is basically a cute theme and its apps are very limited in size, in addition to the sub par browsing experience on RIM devices. In the end, I may just wind up sticking it out for a year with Pre version One and hoping part Two will be even better.
I agree with the otehr guy you are a moronic idiot. Sounds like someone pissed they didnt get a job in marketing. And hey, deuchebag, T-Mobile sponsors the NBA, and umm, that sponsorship is working quite well. Hello, Charles Barkeley, Dwane Wayde, Magic Johnson, Yao Ming, Dwight Howard?

Also, bring back CTJones was a smart move and T-Mobile USA is GAINING subscribers. Show me what they are LOSING asshole in print. Becuase in reality, they have net postpaid and prepaid gains as well as low churn.

Yeah, like there are SO many fucking devices in the U.S. that have been and are avaliable on this platfo- WAIT, no, there are none. What a joke. Vaporware. I mean, the iPhone is running five year old hardware STILL....
Im a PC and all you apple Fan Bois can suck it, biotches!
Youve got to be REALLY careful about putting a new OS on one of the GOBI systems. I have the Acer Aspire One with AT&T and I thre Win 7 on it from day one, took lots of digging to figure out how to enable the WWAN. It doesnt use AT&Ts usual software as its native to Qualcomm. AlsoNO version of Linux will work with the GOBI. As for HP putting a 'stripped down' SP3 I think thats bullshit, I have never heard of such a thing. The Acer had gool ol Home SP3...
Guys, this is SO lame! Especially in light of Verizons CTO saying that they will have to drop their assinine pricing to stay competitive long term. $199 SUBZIDIZED?! They are making about that in Commissions aloen with activation, you can get a brand new one at best buy for only $100 more.

Lets see, AT&T for $49 with faster 3.5G or slow & expensive Verizon for $200. Ummm, yeaahhhh....
Well, that workbook you see in the background is a New Hire guidebook and typically all of the leaks that come out of the stores are the new kids and I emphasize KIDS that are in 'training'. So, yeah the handsets real. AT&T is probably just pissed it cant get more of its bloatware on the Goddamnd thing.
@bernardino You are100% correct. Thats what there goal is for Wired services. You notice how CallVantage VOIP disappeared and NO ONEs asking any questions to why? They want to force their 'bundle' legacy land line overpriced bullshit down your throat.
Fuck AT&T. I went through a THREE month hiring process, got the position, was WAY over qualified, and two days before training was told "I dont fit in and I dont drink the Kool-Aid". They dont want smart people who are professionals. They want mindless neophytes that can be brain washed into their bullshit 'programs'. They know Wired is fucked. Which is why they have like literally, three-four differnt programs in place to try and get thier 'sales force' to upsell it. And by sales force, I mean 22 year old kid whos only job has been ATT.

As for me, Ive been on "Unpaid leave" and fighting with the cocksuckers to pay me for my time worked. In all of my 33 years, I have never seen a more corrupt, inept, mission statement talking bullshit laden company.

Whens VZW and Alltell merging? That oughtta be fun to watch...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
