My problem with the Droid is that it is not available for T-mobile. I know Verizon has a better network but I'm NOT leaving T mobile for Verizon. They are over priced and I'm not going back to the inability to be on the web and talk on the phone at the same time. I'm still struggling through holding on to my G1 and waiting either on my "Rachel" (Sony Ericsson) or my Nexus (Google Phone). I need one of them soon after the new year. I can't take much more of swapping app's back & forth after running out of memory, phone randomly shutting off & random frozen screens that my G1 is giving me now. Hurry up Google I want 2.0 paired with some hardware goodness otherwise I may have to go to the evil fruit phone! LOL
Ok so now that this story broke I'm going to postpone my Iphone purchase again. I love Android but I need a higher end device. I'm sick of my g1 lagging/freezing and having to keep swapping applications because theirs not enough memory. Hurry up and release this phone on T-mob. I was going to get a Cliq until I found out that it was running an older version of the OS than I have (G1 w/Android 1.6). Either this or the Sony Ericsson "Rachel" need to debut on T-mob before the end of January.
@dima1109 Go Back and READ my post I never said ATT's 3g was speedy I said T-mobile's is in the places where it is available. I know that because I have T-mob and have compared loading pages with friends who have both Sprint & ATT and have beaten both of them at times loading the same pages. I have 3g T-mobile, Sprint, Verizon & ATT in my area. I travel a lot and that is where it makes more of a difference for me. When travelling on ATT I could use Wifi more often since its in many of the airports I go through. I'm paying 10 a month for many of those same Wifi hotspots access through T-mob which I wouldn't pay for with ATT. Its an individual decision based on your own needs and where you are at. There is no way I would go back to not being able to access the web & talk on the phone at the same time again.
I'm currently on T-mobile and thinking of getting an Iphone. I have a G1 now and I'm tired of having to switch out app's to add new ones and my phone has started to get sluggish (I've had it since its debut a little over a year ago). T-mob is cheaper has speedy 3g available in more & more areas and has great customer service. My brother has Verizon and their prices are high. You can't surf & talk at the same time (which is ridiculous) and those 2 things are enough to keep me away. Having roll over minutes and free ATT hot spots for WiFi (which I pay Tmob an extra 10.00 a month for now) and the tons of people who have ATT is enough to make me consider them. The Iphone likely pushes it over the top for me. I love Android but I need a high end phone and I'm tired of waiting on the Sony Ericsson model to come out.
Whatever you do DO NOT BUY AN ASUS LAPTOP!!! My 18 month old laptop came with a 2 year "global" warranty on parts & labor and 1 year on accidental damage. It was great for just over a year then my lcd failed. I backed it up a few days after the lcd failed and then guess what? The hard drive failed. Now surprise surprise I called Customer Support and now they won't cover my laptop under warranty. Their customer service is horrible. Don't waste your money. Go look up the many online horror stories regarding Asus laptop and their lies regarding warranty coverage and horrible customer service. Its just not worth it. I wish I had bought the Dell I was looking at instead. I spent over 1300.00 on this piece of junk and now all I have is an expensive paperweight. My next computer will be a Macbook Pro. Buy at your own risk!
I have been a PC user forever. I recently began spending a little more time on the wife's Macbook which has OS X Leopard and a copy of Windows Vista 32 bit that I installed on her machine using bootcamp. I also recently upgraded her to 2GB of RAM (just as simple to do on her Macbook as it is on a PC laptop). Having both OS's on her machine gives her a tremendous amount of flexibility.

I have an Asus laptop that was about a mid to high end laptop when I purchased it about a year and a half ago. I never had problems with Vista and it ran flawlessly until about 3 months ago. 1st the screen went out which was replaced under warranty. Then last week I installed the massive Tuesday OS updates and guess what? They bricked my computer. All I have now is a black screen stating that my OS will not load. When I bought the computer I spent 3 hours downloading updates (Service Pack 1 for Vista then) and A/V software as my wife laughed at me. Her comment, " You wouldn't be doing that if you would have bought a Mac." One minute Vista was running flawlessly and the next minute I have a computer that I can do nothing with all because I installed an update that was supposed to secure my system. I can't even get it to boot in Safe Mode.

I'm done running only Windows. I'm going to buy a Macbook Pro and AppleCare. I will gladly pay the extra money to not lose productivity. I will still be a Windows 7 user because I have the release candidate on my desktop and I like it alot. I will likely install it on the Apple machine when I get it as well. Every time someone is burned by MS it creates another opportunity for Apple.
Ok looks like Cupcake is finally installing on my device. It started a couple of days ago but then hung up halfway through the download. I tried to restart the download and for the next two days it kept saying that my system was updated even though it was still on 1.1. 8 months of ownership and I still like my phone but not being able to install programs to the SD card is a major pain. Oh well at least there are new Android phones coming out with better battery life and more features. The biggest hurdle for me was the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack I'm glad that's finally fixed with this update so now I have A2dp Bluetooth support. It sucked having all that music on my phone and not being able to listen to it. I guess I better go but an upgraded battery!
I have a G1 and I have had mine since the launch date. I am awaiting the "cupcake" update and after trying it out I will be making some decisions about whether or not to get an Iphone. I have wanted an Iphone for awhile now but after making the switch from Sprint to T-mobile I am hesitant to switch to ATT for a phone. My customer service with T-mobile is great which is a big deal to me coming from Sprint. Sprint customer service was HORRIBLE. I had them for years and eventually switched cause I couldn't take the rotten C.S. anymore. T-mobile's network is not as strong for data (I'm still waiting on 3g in my primary area that was supposed to be here months ago) but is fine for calls. I would love to have 3g on a T-mobile Iphone but it looks like that isn't coming anytime soon. I guess after reading others comments here I will give an unlocked 2g Iphone a try because T-mobile's a keeper. I can't wait till Apple's exclusive contract with ATT is over.
I purchased several items on Amazon this year. I have abandoned Ebay after finding higher quality products on Amazon with low prices and no hassle billing. Verifying my account in Paypal became a real hassle. With Amazon no problems at all they keep my information and I don't have to keep entering it or go through any unnecessary steps. Shipping is also reasonable if not free. The merchants I have dealt with that were related to Amazon have also been honest and trouble free. I have no reason to go back to Ebay and will be making several more purchases this weekend.
I just got rid of a Panasonic Pz80u and replaced it with a Samsung 50" Series 6 plasma. It has more setting options to dial in the picture quality. The blacks are deep and crisp. It has rich and true colors. It has a number of features to prevent burn in/image retention. I am watching Beowulf right now in HD on my LG Super Blu player and the picture is STUNNING. Yes I think that the Pioneer is the best HD TV on the market bar none. My Samsung had the best features, quality and price as a whole. The TV retailed for 2300.00. I purchased it on sale at Circuit City for 1665.00 + tax.

I challenge anyone to find a better picture in a 50" at a better price. The Pioneer looks better but with my savings I purchased an Onkyo 805 receiver, LG Super Blu player and a Monster Power 3600 stage 3 to clean up the power with a Harmony 1 remote to rule it all. After people see the picture and hear my Klipsch 5.1 surround system with 12 inch Velodyne sub I have to put people out of my house!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
