@zephxiii, that doesn't make any sense. It's a radio frequency in the chip, there is nothing that 850 does that 900 doesn't, it's just a different channel/frequency.
@mweb that's the million dollar question. I have no idea, and I don't think anyone else does either. You'd think they woud want US HSDPA support much LESS EDGE support for 850mHz. They are saying it will be released "later in the year" but that could be next year for all we know. Now if they come out with the HTC Diamond Pro and it doesn't have 850 HSDPA support, HTC might need to start rethinking their business model. With their last debacle and the video drivers you would think they'd be trying to push the Diamond on the entire US. And if the rumor is true about the HTC Touch Pro being released CDMA here in the states before GSM, well that's just idiotic......
You're welcome Engadget, keep up the good work. I almost peed myself when I saw the 850mHz unlocked.....makes you wonder what else that thing can do.......Now I wonder if they have an HSDPA 850mHz radio somewhere in those files.....
Come on guys what about the colossal failure that is Iphone 3G day one? 6 million handsets not able to activate, and let's not count the ones who were only upgrading firmware on Gen 1 handsets. There should be nothing else spoken about until someone lets Apple have it for this crap. Quit giving them a pass.......
@donkamero FACT #1: The United States of America pays 90% of all outgoing food, monetary, and military aide to countries who request it.

Fact #2: the United States of America has forgiven more debt that other countries owed it than any country in the history of the world

Fact #3: Debt does not mean you don't pay your bills. I'd be willing to wager that you have a car payment every month, yet you're still in debt right? However you still make your payments right? so you still pay bills, but you are in debt. I see you're getting that awesome high school education......

Case closed. I wish it wasn't that easy, but I'm so on my game today :)
@donkamero, which is more pathetic....a guy posting on a site that he works for, or you posting and replying to almost every poster on here behind the scenes by email (like you just did to me)? i would say you, as Zach gets street cred and cool gadgets to play with while he's on Engadget, while all you get is a big bandwidth bill from your ISP...........
Why are you people griping about iphone posts? i may get one, I may not. but the point is, in the tech world this is a pretty big deal so suck it up and just don't read if you don't want to....

(ps, I use only Windows and Blackberrys and WINMO phones so don't think I'm a fanboy posting it...I'm anti-apple, but this is a big step for the wireless world)
@daza, if he's from India why does the USA get the blame? you must work for the UN....and oh yeah we pay 90% of the world's bills so I don't want to hear the anti-USA rants again from you deal? deal...I would shake your hand but I think you're nails are dirtier than the poster's.....
@atthecross that is a web app, not an actual application that is downloadable....and to boot it's a monthly or annual subscription vs. $4.99 one time
yawn. Wake me when the X1 has a new video...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
