When they add a 2nd nub - Not going to happen in that size. You can barely handle 1 analog, imagine 2. Your fingers would hate you.

When they implement a touchscreen - For what? The iphone has a touchscreen and it's useless for gaming. The PSP's browser is garbage so a touchscreen wouldn't help here either. Maybe for text input?

When they add phone capabilities - This is a good one. Why do you need phone capabilities in a PSP? Are you 12 or something? Who in their normal mind would pull out a gameboy phone and start talking on it? Get real. Also, you can kiss battery life good bye with phone capabilities. This one is not happening anytime soon.

What's the big deal with the existing UMD games? You already have an older PSP so use that to play them. Give FOX a call and let them know you want digital copies of all the movies you own on DVD. Let me know what they say. Even better, try playing all your old PS2 games on the PS3. Point is, the Go is a new system and Sony isn't obligated to support anything outdated.

You don't seem to get the point of different device classes. If you haven't noticed, the smaller things get, the more expensive they are. They generally also lose features over "larger" devices. You're comparing apples to oranges. The PSP cannot be compared to the PS3 in terms of anything. You want to compare it to something? Try the gameboy, iphone etc.

Also, nobody is forcing you to go buy a PSP Go so the hostile attitude towards it is ridiculous. You seem to be perfectly happy with your current PSP so I suggest you stick to that. If you want Sony to produce something more to your liking in the future simply vote with your money and stay away from products you don't like. Products are generally based on lots of market research and so on. If a small community of modders or a specific forum online is crying for a touchscreen on a small gaming device, it doesn't mean it's the opinion of the rest of the market.

I wonder how many people who comment here actually use a PSP.

I went out and bought a PSP Go even if I have the original one as well. Here's what I have noticed:

- Screen is better
- Button layout is better (my hands were cramping up with the original)
- The analog is a billion times better than on the original
- The system is very portable (so light it's ridiculous)
- I can buy a game from the comfort of my couch and start playing it right away
- The load times are basically gone along with the UMD garbage.
- I can play on the bus for 2 minutes and pause the game right where it was.
- I can listen to music using my stereo bluetooth headset
- I can go online by teathering it to my phone (never going to happen because I have an iPhone)

In other words, Sony improved the old PSP EXACTLY where it needed improving.

Here's the criticism it's taking from people in general:

- Digital games only (aka I can't go down to gamestop anymore and sell a game for 5% of what I paid for it)
- I have to pay for my games?
- Why are the games for the iPhone cheaper? Because Apple has a completely different business model? Because you can't really play games on the iPhone except for basically minigames? Because the iPhone eats through battery life like there's no tomorrow when playing games? Some games for the iPhone are excellent like Meteor Blitz. Try playing that for about 1 hour and tell me it was a pleasant experience. Your fingers will literally fall off.
- It's only 50$ cheaper than a PS3. You can buy a laptop for 500$ and yet many cellphones out there go for 1000+. It's called portability. The devices are not in the same class.

In case you're worried about Sony screwing everyone I would rest easy. It will get hacked/cracked/modded/etc. You will be able to easily play games on it without buying them...it's only a matter of time.

I for one am very happy with it and it's coming with me on my daily commute instead of collecting dust in a drawer somewhere like my old PSP (because of its size, UMD and so on). Also, the phrase "you have to pay to play" still applies. Get used to paying for your content because that's where the future is headed and rightfully so.

There seems to be on real change from the 1st Xperia. Animations are still choppy, screen is still small and is it just me or has the quality/look gone downhill as well...Hopefully this one will cost around 4-500 instead of 800 like the X1.

I have 6.5 running on my X1 right now and all I have to say is: nothing to see here...move along.
It's always funny when people say that Europe pays much more for gas. That's great...but you're forgetting to factor in that the average driver in Europe doesn't drive 50 miles a day to get to work. Most people only drive on weekends because of the infrastructure they have. Why drive to work for 45 minutes when you can take the subway/train for 15. If gas got even more expensive here what would you take to work? A boat? Public transportation is overcrowded right now, with some train stations having waiting lists for parking that are years long.

Also, having 2 kids doesn't mean you need a larger vehicle. You'll be fine with a 4 cyl, 4 door car. I guess in Europe people don't have kids, or the need to carry crap around all the time, because you hardly see SUVs and minivans, in most countries.

In the end, everyone should've seen this one coming a long time ago. Did you really think we would pay less for gas forever? Besides having to pay more for gas, maybe this will bring some changes, like better cars, better drivers and smarter politicians.
Show me where I was rude. Here though, to satisfy your argument:

Let me know when you have moved out of your grandma's basement.

".. [I] assumed that since it looks like the N81 it must be built like the N81".
According to your logic I can conclude that "all the things in the world are the same, but have differences".

Again, English>You. Show me where I said this: "all the things in the world are the same, but have differences". However, if 2 phones made by the same manufacturer, look the same, run the same software, guess what...you can safely conclude that they are largely the same.

"I have a Nokia E61i which has body parts made of aluminium. So not "ALL" their phones are made of plastic. Similarly, their "usual plastic" is not cheap."

Next time we are talking about N series devices please restrict your comments to these devices. I have an 8800 which is also not made of plastic. Their usual plastic is cheap as long as it creaks and the paint comes off from normal use (N95-8GB, N95, N81 etc). Also, I would like to know how many of these phones you actually own because obviously you know NOTHING about them and how well they are built.

Facts:

N95-1: requires tape on the back of the sliding part so it doesn't wobble. Paint comes off after 3 months of regular use. Light leaks out of the device like it was meant to be a flashlight.

N95-2: requires tape on the back of the sliding part so it doesn't wobble. Paint comes off after 2 months of regular use.

N81: cheap plastic, crappy slider, easily scratched, paint comes off.

N80: requires tape on the back of the sliding part so it doesn't wobble. Every part that could be loose is loose.
The media buttons are a good idea but completely useless in reality. I've never used them.

They need to hire some better designers. The thing looks like a toy, just like the N81. Am I the only one who thinks that their flagship device is not supposed to look like another midrange device they offer (N81)? Their focus lately seems to just pump out as many phones as possible that are all the same, with minor differences here and there.
I guess I just took a chance there and assumed that since it looks like the N81 it must be built like the N81...Or hold on, maybe they went with the high quality materials instead of the usual cheap plastic all their other phones are made of. Get real.
High quality materials? It looks just like the N81 which feels like a toy at best. Also, how is this different from the other devices in the N series...which are all pretty much the same. I don't get it. Take the N95, give it a different case, add TV and that's the N96?

Cool, in that case why wasn't the red N95 called the N96? It's got just about as many changes from the black N95 as this "new" one. It seems like Nokia is pumping out more phones a month than Steven Segal movies. They need to start taking their time developing phones instead of coming up with "high end", cheap quality, bug ridden devices every 3 months.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
