Call me crazy but as important as specs are a phone should look good too and this is the ugliest phone I've ever seen. I mean from a looks perspective its horrible. Who would carry this with any pride? I mean even the slide seems awkward. Verizon for years has had good phones but all ugly as sin. Do you even get any say in your product Big Red?
Plexus, you are very naive to believe that every one wants a 3-4 inch touchscreen or touchscreen slideout qwerty combo. Because there are still some americans that would like a OS that isn't SERIOUSLY underpowered on hardware. I'm not denying that Android is the future. But until the tegra and 500 plus RAM show up stateside powering either android or winmo the blackberry is still the way to go. I can respond to text an email in 10 secs or less on a berry. On the flip side unless you flash a rom on winmo or I guess don't have an HTC Sense UI on an Android the lag alone takes 5 secs to load the messaging app, not to mention taking the time to hold your awkwardly designed, top heavy, slide out qwertys. Basically what I'm saying is every phone/os has its demographics. And there are still power users that prefer battery life, speed, and durability to flashy chinese plastic that goes through flex cables faster than winmo eats batteries.
Not to disappoint HTC fans. The diamond was delayed about a month ago. Originally Sprint stores were looking at it for 9/2. Look for it mid october and look for the Touch Pro to launch the same day along with a boat load of other phones for the holidays. I guess the Chinese are wrong once again...I can't say anything more, but just don't bet on aug/sept.
Umm..don't know who your "sources" are but I can tell you first hand the Motorola q9c in its current form went "End of Life" on 6/8/2008. If you do see it online again it will be a discounted clearance price or a dwindling amount of whats left. Surprisingly so did the Blackberry Pearl 8130 on 6/15, we just still have stock of it. And don't count on the BB 8330 in red on 7/13 because if we can't get Titanium how we suppossed to get Red? The same high demand/low inventories will likely delay that one till late july early august time frame.
Well I'm really excited Sprint is rereleasing the 8830 World Edition in Titanium...NOT! Although it they do get the 8330 Curve with GPS and 2MP Camera on April 16th I'll definetly be picking one up. Now the Treo 800 is launch ready so where's that at? Why hold on so long..if it doesn't make it out soon Palm may have to combine with Motorola and form the Cell Manufacturer Has Been Committee playing shuffleboard at CES 2002.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
