I think phone manufacturers do not understand the importance of this feature and how it costs them sales. I want an Android phone and the Mytouch 3G looks good but I have held back for precisely this reason. (I have a j/b iPhone on T-Mobile at the moment).
OK. So let me get this straight, ATT. You'll make me pay to get your little microcell unit and pay monthly to use it.
Tell me again why I should drop T-Mobile and my UMA Blackberry which allows me to get dialtone over any wifi network I can log onto? Anywhere in the world, including my house?
Hoo boy. Sounds better already. If push Gmail also includes Google Apps email, then I instantly have a replacement for my BES. I can run mydomain.com on GAFYD and push email to me. Yay.
I mean, I love my Curve 'n stuff, but srsly I'm dying to get rid of the complexity and overhead of a BES and that monthly tithe to RIM.
Yet another example of rampant overlawyering. At least in this situation, executive sanity prevails quickly. Compare it to the Bank Julius Baer/wikileaks.org debacle.
I have to give ive credit to the President of MobiTV at least for seeing that one of his minions has bad judgment, and fixing it fast.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
