I carried a Treo 700wx modded to 6.1 for years. Just got the Droid. There is not way I'd go with the Omnia. It sure looks purty and I'm attracted to it - but Droid has me won over. And the Pre was SO calling my name on Verizon as of early October - having put hands on every Smartphone (except the Omnia noww) - the Droid just wins.
was in Best Buy: overheard the Mobile rep(re:iPhone) explaining that AT&T's 3G is indeed less than Verizon - but the voice was 'all over'. Yes - they were specifically asking about the marketing from Verizon. Is it truthful - yes. Misleading - really a possibility.
Just went by the Rocky Mount, NC store - no way, they said. I showed them this story on my phone. She called her district manager - told no way & someone was in big trouble.
HEELS! (you know - the national champs!)
GSM may be worldly - but data is not - just being able to make a HIGH priced call on your cell in Europe - to which very few Americans need to do on a REGULAR basis - and CDMA EVDO RevA is kicking as - for NOW.

WiMAX and LTE may change all that - but we're talking 2012 before it even gets rolled out beyond a handful of MSAs.

As for the battery - AT LEAST YOU CAN BUY A BACKUP!
I'm still on WinMo (ducks the throng of tomatoes) but with Google Calendar Sync (works both ways - just not over the air) and IMAP already on my phone - this doesn't seem all that wowable. No Enterprise necessary even.
My S10 does seem to have the fan issue - but no worse than any other laptop I've had in the last 8 years. I'm more bummed about no internal bluetooth and only 2 USB ports than anything else. Going looking for a 6-cell replacement battery because the 1.5 hour oem battery just doesn't cut in on the plane.
I just installed it on my Treo 700wx with a cooked 6.0 ROM and it works great. I like the interface and fonts better than the previous version, too.
Dude - the 'Diamond' has been available for weeks online at Alltel - they've been promoting it front-page since October...????

We're still waiting on the 'Pro' to go live - rumored yesterday - now possibly next week. THAT is what I wanna hear about.
Where's Alltel's? Rumor had it dropping tomorrow. An un-cripped Alltel version before the merger would be the ideal platform opportunity...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
