I think the real issue with cell phones on airplanes is that since its such a small space with all those people, imagine if they all were using their phones chatting away. It would be extremely noisy to say the least.
That, or like Jay said, they could be used as possible detonators for terrorism.
Either way, using your cell phone would most likely not result in a fatal crash killing hundreds of people. But its at least nice to have some peace and quiet while on the plane.
Ah man I had my heart set on getting the Verizon Curve when my NE2 is up in July. Maybe we'll have more concrete info on a release for this, I'd hate to get the curve and have the Bold come out not too long after.
@loosely_coupled and boss-hog. I don't think you're getting my point. There is no such thing as an iPhone wannabe unless someone intentionally makes a phone to look like the iPhone. IT IS GOING TO LOOK SIMILAR BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY PRACTICAL WAY TO DO IT. There is only 1 way to make a full touchscreen.
All this iPhone copy-crap is getting a little ridiculous. Seems like the "fanboys" are a little insecure..
Why does every touchscreen device have to be an "iPhone imitator"? Yes, the iPhone is cool and a great phone and everything. But seriously, how many different ways can you make a touch screen? Its pretty limited to a big flat rectangle with as few buttons as possible. Would a star-shaped touchscreen be practical or pocketable? no.
No, I'm not an "Apple/iPhone hater." Yes, I'll probably switch from Verizon to get the iP2. But, I'm just saying lets get serious, a touchscreen is a touchscreen, not an iPhone wannabe.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
