You could turn off 3G before...I haven't been home to update my iPhone since the update came out and it's got that option already lol.
Remember the whole Greyhound beheading that happened like last week?

PETA made a reference to it in an ad...fuck PETA..

Here's PETA's latest attempt to get you to stop eating meat.

"His struggles and cries are ignored ... the man with the knife shows no emotion ... the victim is slaughtered and his head cut off ... his flesh is eaten," reads the ad posted on the PETA site.

"If this ad leaves a bad taste in your mouth, please give a thought to what sensitive animals think and feel when they come to the end of their frightening journey and see, hear and smell the slaughterhouse,"

They apologized but that's still no excuse to use a terrible event to get people to stop eating fucking meat.
I could be wrong, but wouldn't it make sense it wouldn't work with the 1st Gen iPhone considering the 2.0 out for the 3G version has GPS built in and the hardware itself is different? Maybe there's a slightly different version for each device? I'd gather that's the same reason it wouldn't work on the iPod Touch...then again like I said I could be wrong, I don't know much about these things...just a thought!
We just got our shipment of iPhones. *creams pants* I have my 16GB waiting for Friday here on my desk now :D
From the bulletin:

"Effective July 11, and as a limited time promotional offer for customers
who activate by August 31 on a three year contract, a data-only offering of
6GB of data for $30 per month is being made available that can be added to any in-market voice plan."
I don't think you're getting it...for Rogers this is HUGE considering as everyone has made very clear before, had the most expensive and least value-added plans. I was going to pay $30 for 300MB before I read this, THAT is ridiculous. 6GB on the iPhone 3G is more than enough and is close enough to unlimited, how many people have actually used 5+? Considering you can't tether the iPhone for data I have a very hard time believing it's even possible to reach 6GB, the app store isn't going to let you download applications more than 10MB(?) unless you download using iTunes or wifi. Is anybody going to be using bittorrent with their phone? Doubtful, that's what your computer is for. Maybe it's just me being ignorant but I can't see any possible way to use that much data on this phone at this point in time.

Yes Rogers is a big corporate pig and they suck blah blah etc, we know, I've been with them for 4 years and have had my gripes, they can be good at times, they can be terrible...shouldn't be saying that since I work for a dealer but hey! If people are going to continue to complain after being offered 6GB for $30, as compared to anything they've offered in the past that doesn't even come close to comparing...then I've lost a little more faith in humanity.
Excuse me for being ignorant but...isn't this the same as Bluetooth? Are there any devices that use W-USB yet?
Sweet so if that's true that means we get flipped off by both Rogers and Apple! First being offered a terrible voice option with the plans, and then not being able to have one of these until...well until Apple ships more. Great!

I found out today it's possible to keep my existing voice plan and add on a $30/300MB data option...that's the only reason why I'm still getting it, I hope 300MB should be enough for the time being...
Dang, not open to Canadians :(
My Current plan:

- My5 Canada (Unltd calling/txting to 5 ppl anywhere in Canada)
- 350 Daytime mins, unltd eve/weekends at 6pm, $25.
- $15 Blackberry value pack (CallID, WhoCalled, Voicemail, 2500 txt msgs)
- $15 unltd email for Blackberry.
--------- Total: $55 + system access fee 6.95 + taxes = meh I can handle it.

So on these new plans I have to dish out minimum $60, I lose 200 mins, I lose my unltd calling/txting to 5 people, I lose early evenings and weekends at 6 unless I get the $20 value pack.

Thank you Rogers, first we wait for a year for this phone and when we get it we have to choose from ridiculous plans and sign a contract for a year longer than anywhere else in the world. Go F**** yourselves.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
