For realz huh? Yeah it's still vaporware. No updates on their blog since November of last year. Kinda sad that autobloggreen and engadget made these announcements without any evidence that this thing existed whatsoever. Fail.
did you ever get it?
These phones use NFC, (near-field communication) and they require a specific chip to be a feature of the phone. At this point, it's not really possible to get an NFC enabled phone in the US. By the way, the chip has credit/debit card data on it, so the phone is really just a case for a contactless pay-pass style credit card.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
