@silly pickle: the cars in Canada are worth less because USUALLY they have more damage from / potential for / actual rust due to the bad winters, road salting etc. In the northern parts of the USA I'm sure the used car market is much the same as they great white north.
Similarly in Australia, with no snow except in one area of the whole country and winters that mostly don't dip below 0C / 32F, cars last longer and are more reliable because the climate is more ideal for keeping them long-term. That's why the new car market is slower in Australia and all cars cost more (ignoring the import & currency exchange rate issues for foreign-made cars).


@John McElroy: I understand your reasoning and of course it looks at the bigger picture of the used car market. In one (and I'm sure multiple) case though, it doesn't hold up - perhaps that will change with the current economic climate, but sometimes it's cheaper to lease-to-buy a new car (certainly month-to-month) with the deals they give (approx. 0 to 2% interest) than it is to get a bank loan and buy a used car (at +5% interest). Something to consider depending on the costs of new vs. used and people's situations and the deals they can get.

They keep announcing phones and then not releasing them! I'm waiting and waiting for a SE phone that I want to buy and I can't yet. No wonder they have no money! :P

For the curious: I previously wanted the Z780 which ended up being released in South America only. I could import it but I've since lost interest and focused my attention on the W508 / W518a. Waiting waiting...

I'm sick and tired of having brainwashed minds like yours tell me how wonderful it is to have subsidised phones tied directly into the monthly service cost. Phone cost and service cost should be separate, even if you DO get a discount/subsidy for signing to a 1 or 2 year contract.

Take Australia for instance. Phones on plans are advertised as costing 0 or 5 or 10 or 15 (etc) dollars per month, depending on how long you agree to pay for service or how large a monthly service fee you choose to pay.

I hate the North American system (particularly Canada, with the total and utter lack of competition) where phones cost 0 or 50 or 100 or 150 (etc) dollars upfront. Immediately you realise that if you bring your own phone you ONLY save on the upfront cost of a phone - you still have to pay the phone subsidy for a phone you won't get in your monthly fees.

Rockband can be for girls definitely, but not GH3. The skanky outfits and stupid background dancing girls in cages is extremely offensive and every girl I know who plays GH/RB hates that stuff. Personally I also find it lame. Neversoft / Activision are frucking moron a$$holes.

That's an Australian plug adapter, not an 'England' adapter. British plugs are massive, always-three-pronged, high-current-earth affairs.

It's going to be Triband UMTS and Quadband GSM (or as everyone seems to like to point out, GSM/EDGE).

I don't see what's not straightforward about that. Then it will globally support 3G.

Based on this Softbank news, I assume the new iPhone will be Quadband GSM and Triband HSDPA like the soon-coming SE 780i - thus supporting 850, 1900 and 2100MHz frequencies thus covering Australia (both Telstra 850MHz and Hutchinson/3 2100MHz), Europe (i have no idea), Japan (Softbank 2100MHz) and the USA/Canada (AT&T, Rogers 850MHz)
