Now they know that it ain't an iden phone if it ain't ugly. Actually that antenna is pretty helpful for pulling in the signal when you are surrounded by walls.
Direct connect is a good thing. Sensible users turn their external speaker off in public and have a private dc conversation. You just have morons using it that think it makes them look important having their volume turned up so everyone can hear them chirp. (kind of like the idiots who keep the bluetooth earpiece stuck in their ear all the time)

"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
