Lundamark, I apologise, Im sorry, that was OTT.

However, I see it all over the web.
Apple fans simply dismiss, without even TRYING the phone/Pc/Mp3 player , in question.

And compare it to other less favourable pieces of poo out there from the past.

Instead of trying (Like I did) the phone etc.

Seriously, The resitive/capactive argument doesnt come into play on the Nokia 5800.

Its honestly a wonderful screen, and is not like the old / recent Bad Capactive screens.

I've never even used the supplied stylus.
Thats how good it is

Lundamark you snotty dismissive little clown

Your not even open to the suggestion that the Phone's screen is Good ?

Say you've never held an Itouch/Iphone
And someone says..."Hey dude,...TOUCHSCREEN"

Did you say at the time..."Awh man, touchscreen sucks"

And subsuquently change your mind ?!

Open your mind you cretin

Im not a Nokia Nerd, in fact im more apple lover , but WILL NOT PAY AN EXTORTIONATE CONTRACT.

Jesus you apple fan boys are such technology rapists

Fucking hate you guys

Lundamark.

This is not the old flabby squishy resistive touchscreen of old.
This is really smart, razor thin touch screen.
The tech involved has evolved.

Believe me, I agonized over this myself, as it was a major sticking point.

I have an ITouch and I love how accurate the touch screen is.
I wanted an Iphone if im honest, but was not willing to get the contract involved.

But in the end, I plumped for the Nokia 5800 on a non contract basis.
And I love it !!!

Its quick, responsive, easy to load with music ( the sound is Honestly better than my ITouch)
And even watching BSG S4 has been a pleasure !!

Wonderful Phone.

It does have some bugs, like the screen rotation can be sluggish, but its not life and death.
And the MMS and SMS is a breeze, I use t9 predictive text.

Only bad part is the browser, its not even close to the I touch/Iphone
But download Opera mini and its not too bad.

This is a class Phone, sure it has bugs, but no more or less than any other phone.

I used it to replace my Itouch, and i'll be honest, Its got better sound Quality
Idiot ..

Fail for this post
I reckon this is possible...and in my opinion a great idea.

I've been itching for a nano phone forever.
Apple make good products, and they make them beautifuly simple.

I have an I-Touch and would love the IPhone, but no way in hell am I paying such premiums on the tarrifs ( Ireland )

Even to buy the thing is equal to around $800 dollars.

So i've been waiting for an Android based handset or even the Nokia 5800 ( my third choice )

I would love the Nokia 5800 because of its features.
but I hear the resistive screen is a bit dodgey and the interface is laggy and not as intuitive as the Iphone ( in my opinion )

I was about to buy the Nokia 5800 until I head this Nano rumor...so im holding my breath in anticipation of a Nano at MacWorld( please God let it be true )

I think its possible because ...

Firstly they could keep the resolution and just have a screen with 4 or even 3 lines of Icons including the bottom row, instead of the 5 like the regular IPhone.

They could maybe take a few cm's off the top and bottom where the home button is.

Remove 3g ... and have an Edge connecting Web experience like on most Dumbphones?

Everyone loved the first IPhone that ran on edge...so why is everyone crying foul about this on an Nano phone ?

Remove App store ...it wasnt on the first Iphone....and everyone still loved the original....so why the bitching now ?

for Text entry ...either use a landscape mode like the Nokia 5800 or Use an alphanumeric pad...like a T9 style , for single handed use ...like EVERY other phone on the market.

Include a 8 gig of onboard memory.

And finally ...have it on a non contract basis as well as a contract.
maybe $99 or less on contract...and $200 contract free.
this would be the ultimate killer to all the other handset makers.

Now in fairness....

how is this "impossible" as some of the morons on here proclaim ?

3g is a minimum requirement for Europe.

Only slack backwater countries dont have 3G networking

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
