Is there any buttons on the side or any way to fast forward or rewind easily? I had a Dell axim and I had buttons and a Dpad I could program to do what I want. It was easy and I wouldn't have the problem like with the Ipod touch I am using. It is a hassle I have to pull it out of my pocket, unlock it, hold fast forward at least 10 sec to fast forward a minute. Before I would just have to tap a couple times in my pocket and takes a sec. I need this feature because I listen to podcasts and radio shows. If it gets boring or a commercial it quick to ffw or even skip a song. Does any of these new players like this one or the zune or zii going to make this possible?
Good luck getting past Somalia
Are you guys idiots? The cpu in the Iphone was developed by Intel. Intel sold that part of the company off to the chinese a few years ago. Its still basicaly the same chip.
Never had a n Iphone but my Dell x51v is pretty much the same cpu. Theres no real lag opening settings or running 5 or so apps at once or even having 5 or so opera tabs open. Opera has been slower than a pc for opening web pages though but downloading over wif isn't that much slower than a pc.I can an download about 5 thing at once before it starts to bog down. Apple probably just has to work things out to run smooth, the Iphone has 128mb or ram I only have 64mb. I am running newer custom rom that is noticeably faster than stock though. There is the new ARM cortex like in the Archos 5 and a new Nividia mobile cpu coming soon. Wiki said ARM was developed by Apple. I looked it up because a Iphone fanboy told me when I told him the Iphone basically running on hardware from WinMo.
Does that really look like its machined out of a block of aluminum or cast?
Cant wait to see O2 xda flame 2
I'm happy but I hope its not just because of apple tomorrow. Probably because there last few podcasts where, pimp apple and then no more. Just around for big events. Oh well better then nothing.
Always idiots trashing WinMo. Sorry about your luck if you tried running it on crappy 200mhz devices. I use an x51v for a lot and has WM6.1. I can't think of the last time I had to soft reset and battery life is noticeably better. Theres more apps than all the other comparable OS's. I don't know how you can judge all these other devices as so much better when they do so much less. I hope android does catch up but it will be years and years.
So far the iphone is the real lipstick on a pig. Looks pretty and flashy but what apps are really good? That and 240mb thats a pig for sure. It never fails cockroches come out right away trashing WinMo. This device has plenty of power and probably run WinMo great. WinMo has the apps and a lot of great ones thats the diffence. Android has a lot better chance of catching up than iphone will. Anyway your probably shills working for apple anyway.
To me it looks outdated already a lot of wasted space and very thick. If it had gaming pads and buttons on each side because it does have plenty of room it might be fun. 2gb memory well that sucks and sdhc would be better than microsd. The new archos has the look i would like it a device and all screen but its a locked up os and would have to hope it gets hacked to do a lot of things. For the past few years I have been sticking with x51v went threw a few. Its perfect pocket size and people are interested in making new roms for it but I havent been able to find a device worth upgrading to. I did try the n800 last summer it was hard compared to windows mobile. It dont think Iphone or gphone could replace what I use now the apps make it good. I would probably buy the archos if it had wm6.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
