yeah but i would NEVER go back to sprint.

................i wish folks would hold their tongues a bit concerning the quality of cellphone networks: it all depends on WHERE YOU LIVE, WHERE YOU LIVE, WHERE YOU LIVE. sprint is just fine in a lot of places. people hate ATT, but it's generally a solid network. everyone seems to love verizon, but where i am, i've had ATT phones get signals places where verizon dropped them. it's like buying a home: location location location. of course if you're a world or nation-wide traveller, you have broader needs, and a need for a broader network
As a professional developer, all I have to say about the Pre is this:

I would rather stab myself in the face repeatedly than attempt to develop a rich application using HTML and Javascript. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with this, but that TOTALLY destroys any excitement I had for this phone. That is possibly the most bone-headed move Palm has ever made. HUGE turnoff to a developer to be so harshly limited when it isn't necessary.

.........................that's what i'm saying: palm is making a LIMITED smartphone. sort of the netbook of smartphones. the problem is: people buy netbooks because they're cheap and SMALLer than normal laptops. no one wants a limited smartphone that is the same size as the "fully functional" ones
the problem is: now we have 3 new hot mobile OS's on the market. the iphone is going to be impossible to beat IMHO, simple because of the apple-sexiness factor, regardless of features or reality. as long as something doesn't come along that is remarkably better; though i have to admit that some will need a real keyboard. anyway, there's the iphone which we all know is beloved by so many (though i know not here at engadget forums : ) ......then there's android, the most exiting mobile OS ever, and most promising. now there is this, it looks just great; solid, functional, fast, well designed, but the problem is that it doesn't have something HUGE that the iphone doesn't. i want one of two things for the mobile market: best scenario: android gets adopted as the primary OS for mobile; it's open source, so we don't have to worry about the need for competition.........or 2nd: we have solid competition. the iphone is not going to die, and unfortunately it is the biggest thing standing in the way of android. i have one myself, and i frickin love the thing, though i recognize it could use a few more features; i still stand behind saying that apple does intuitive and attractive like NO ONE else. this is nice, but it still doesn't have that apple pazazz. even if it may well be the "better" phone when it comes to features. the problem i see is applications: we're talking ANOTHER totally new OS for devs to design for. and it's apparently not similar to OSX or android. i forsee some serious limitations in applications provided for this. i think you'll see devs focusing on the iphone and android as primary platforms to develop for, and another totally different one is a bit much. all in all, it looks great but i think it's bad timing. the days of the treo are gone. i think this phone might fail, even though it has all the best intentions. one way or another, it's good to have competition, but i simply can't see myself replacing my iphone with anything other than another iphone, or android....... one thing is for sure: windows mobile will go fornicate itself into non-existance, and for that i am eternally pleased.
"I see no point in Apple making a "iPhone Nano". The only advantage would be that it would probably cost less. If they were to make a smaller iPhone than it would most likely run slower. That would mean that many apps that already push the iPhone a bit wouldn't run anywhere near well on the Nano. Mainly games. But another huge reason is that the current iPhone is small and thin. There are many other phones out there that are a lot larger than the but don't anything near what the iPhone can do. From the pictures that I've seen of the supposed iPhone Nano about an inch or a little less smaller than the current iPhone. What's the point of that?"

...........i just want to say, once and for all, that i now realize completely the waste of time it is to read engadget members' posts, and i shall forthwith do it never again. thanks.
i think what folks don't understand is just how incredible all these devices coming out of china are. completely regardless of the legal or ethical implications, just stop and realize that china is becoming an enormous technology powerhouse. china is going to dominate world trends in the coming years.
it seems you can only buy one iphone online per household. i need 2. i wonder if i can buy 2 refurbs separately on different accounts and then later connect them into a fam account.
all i have to say is: just another instance where i'm delightedly surprised at how MS is standing up for it's xbox customers. extending warranties, improving content, constant upgrades to box firmware with increasingly valuable features; i'm just pleased as punch, and, to be honest, as a linux dude i'm downright shocked
i'm always astounded at the number of whiny little bitches engadget produces to everything from apple, to MS, to pizza. this was a very hot deal, and kudos for engadget for the heads up.

ps: the "no call" rule doesn't really apply here. you let a price error go for too long and everyone gets cancelled. the "no call" idea is more of when there is a price error or super deal at a RETAIL store and you don't want to alert the grubby little employees to pick up all the stock for friends and fam
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
