Ok, I'll mention it - this girl has huge feet.
Is this one Huey, Dewey, or Louie?
I think I read somewhere that it costs 8 cents to stream a movie (once the servers, IT staff, etc are paid for) versus 20 or 30 cents to ship it both ways, not to mention the paper and gas that's wasted AND not to mention the effort that goes into pressing a disc in the first place. For the environment, I'm tempted to say "streaming FTW". Now if we can just get those servers running on solar power..
I already signed up for my PS3 disc (CD,DVD,BD?) and it didn't mention a fee...the verbiage above mentions a 1-time $9.99 fee for the disc. You'd think it would be the other way around since there are 10 Wiis for every PS3. Oh well, works out in my favor, for once!

I have to admit, instant streaming old episodes of Captain N on the Wii would feel so right..
This is not a first for Nintendo. The NES had a bike flywheel/stand and game called CompuTrainer way back in the early 90's. It turns out all the crazy stuff Nintendo did in the 80's (PowerGlove, Uforce) were just market research for their current Wii success. Is a ROB comeback next? Let's hope not.
Agreed, PS2 emulation is nice. Find yourself an original 60GB, it's the Caddy of PS3s, IMHO. I would argue that MGS4 is a must have, but exclusive PS3 titles are admittedly thin on the ground. If you add in PS2, now you are talking. Listen up, Sony!
My only issue with PlayOn is that I don't like to leave my computer on all the time, or go turn it on while I watch Netflix. I think I'll just get a Roku for $100 and be happy that I'm using less electricity. If Netflix was native to PS3, I would lose my mind. Maybe MS and Sony can work out a deal, they put BRD on 360, PS3 gets Netflix. Everybody wins! Right??
Price drops are awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's funny how $100 makes a difference on a system that has $60 games. For that price drop, you can't even get 2 games. I'm just saying, the software is going to quickly add up to more than the hardware, if you buy at full retail that is. Sam's = $27 LBP FTW!!
Any final word on the sound level of this thing? Engadget said the slim is slightly quieter, Giz said it's slightly louder (neither were very scientific). Not that it would warrant a purchase, but the one and only issue I have the my fat PS3 is the noise level, especially while upconverting DVDs or playing BRD. I need to try that fan-swap I've heard works..
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
